Not a chance. It was clearly the elbow that caught him in the face.

Meh. Tsn panel agrees it was a terrible call.

I think you could argue it was face to elbow, instead of elbow to face.
But anytime you jump with your elbows up and catch a guy in the face (intentional or not) there is a risk of a card and a foul.
Great run and finish from Perisic there though. Always been a little underrated.

It was a terrible call. If it was a foul, it was a foul on the other side, or on both sides.
Certainly not just one to Croatia.

With VAR, defender are going to have to play with no arms.

What does Southgate have against Grealish? Seriously.
Lineup is the same except, Trippier and Walker swapped for Shaw & Reese-James

The only thing standing between Croatia and win there was Dejan Lovren.

Okay, for me its mostly a joke. Because Lovren has always had an insanely high opinion of himself.
Despite the fact that he is good for one critical brain-fart per game that he usually has to dig out of the back of his net.
Lovren is 90% excellent, stable defender and 10% unprecedented calamity.
Unfortunately those are not nice percentages for a Central Defender. A few mistakes per season...okay, thats human. A guaranteed worldy-blunder every single game? If I were the manager I wouldnt play him.

Yeah. After the World Cup he made a statement in Croatian media along the lines of why isn’t he counted among the best defenders of the world?
Like he was jelly of all the accolades Luka was getting.

Caldwell's kilt is awesome.
And it's pouring rain in London. Should make it interesting. They should play this game on a 1970s mud pitch

Two things I want to see
First england player with the ball just takes a shot on net, further away the better
Someone scores and does the dentist chair

Stones showing some pretty crazy hops on that header, unlucky not to score.

This is the England tournament football I'm used to seeing. Tonnes of chances, zero finish, Sterling doing Sterling things, Pickford handling the ball like a live grenade, and Kane being largely invisible.
