Just trade Bennett already. He doesn't bring much and he doesn't want to be here. He does't bring much return too. May be trade for draft pick and cap space. And we can call up Phillips.

The Flames struggling to score is nothing new to sutter....17 goals in 7 games under Sutter is about the same. D has improved IMO

Players need to nut up and get the level of play into their heads that Sutter is trying to instill.
This core has gone through 4 previous coaches with only two instances of reasonable success. The heart attack Flames of the Hartley era and then the crazy fun season that was Bill Peters 1st season. Thats it. The rest has been wishy washy inconsistent hockey.
Want to be creative and make flashy plays? Better get real good at basic north south hockey first.
In a metaphors, gotta re learn to walk before you can run. Exorcise some bad demons that crept into the core.
That's what happening here.

We're already complaining about Sutter's system?
If the players look lost and unsure, they can go look that way on some other team. I'm sick of watching these pouty bitches.
I hope Sutter bag skates them into wheelchairs.

11-11-2 under Ward, 4-3-0 under Sutter.

Season’s toast. They aren’t winning at a .667 clip from here on out to make it in. They can’t even score goals. Team isnt even close to good enough. God could be the coach.

Yes, getting smaller will solve all of our problems.

You're acting like Sutter is the second coming of Christ.
Sutter said they played an excellent road game. His complaint was that the top 2 lines needed to ratchet up their play.
My comment was about the struggles our offensive players are having with the system. Right now the goals are not coming when we need them the most.
Sutter can't win with this core and there needs to be some changes.

It was never going to be the first 4-5 games under Sutter that mattered, it was going to be the next half a dozen that would be the true indicator of whether this team was going to buy in and turn things around. So far the results haven't been good.
A large chunk of CP said this team just needed a good coach, which they got in Sutter, but I think we can now move onto the player problems that we have and agree that this team needs a shake up and we need to move on from a player or three.
I still think we start by moving JG, he isn't getting the points here anymore, the NTC is on the horizon and I don't want him signing a new long term contract with the flames, as I think he only gets worse in Calgary from here on in. There are others that need shifting but trading JG creates a need to look at different lines and shakes things up the most for starters.

Glad I accidentally saw the final score and skipped this game. With a classless ending to boot, good god. I'm going to go against the grain here and say that while many people have been praising Andersson's progression in the past, I have never seen the top pairing potential many others had. Top 4, sure at his peak. But IMO he doesn't have it in him to take that big step to anchoring an entire D. He's been one of the weak links all season and one of the big reason for this team's massive decline this season. Not just saying that because we lost this game; he has legit been terrible all season.
And next time someone copies and pastes some spreadsheet showing how Sean Monahan is some kind of #1C because of whatever x=y stat, they are getting a big stern finger wagging. Dude has never had an extra gear, never will, and it's getting real old waiting for him to turn into something he'll never be. Don't care if he's leading his draft class in goals. He's no good at almost everything else, even when trying to evolve his game. Trade him while he still has value. Seems like he's already checked himself out the door along with most of the top 6.
Disappointing season from the leadership group. The decline of literally every single top player on this team is remarkable and frustrating, yet so typical 'Flames'. At least Gio has an excuse. But Tkachuk, Monahan, Gaudreau, Andersson. All core pieces that have each taken massive steps backward.
Sutter really and truly does have his work cut out with this group. I feel bad for the ownership group because they finally did the right thing and went out and got one of the top coaches in the game. They re-invigorated a frustrated fanbase and bought a lot of goodwill going into next season when fans should be allowed back. Only to watch this dumpster of a core #### the bed again and ruin everything.
go flames go lol

I've been thinking about this. I think we should trade fatmus andersson for that #### hole display last night. I woke up still embarrassed. Need to stamp that sort of #### out with prejudice.

So looking at it now and Sutter always has some growing pains when he first takes over, before they get hot and go on a run.
Sutter hired in LA in December 2011:
15-14-4: Record prior to Sutter
11-8-8 - Slightly better the first 27 games than prior to him taking over.
14-5-3 - Last 22 Games of the regular season on fire
16–4-0 - Stay hot in the playoffs and win a cup
Sutter hired in Calgary in December 2002
10-18-8: Record prior to Sutter taking over.
8-12-6 - Slightly better first 26 games, but still not great.
11-6-3 - Ended the season on fire 11-6-3, rode that into the 03-04 season (42-30-10)
So big problem here is we only had 30 games left because Treliving didn’t make this change when he should have in the offseason.
Pretty much we need to go 12-8 over his first 20 games this time, and then hope one of the D.Sutter hot streaks sees us go 7-3 to end the season to have a shot at the playoffs. Plus just win the rest against Montreal.

Yeah it's not going to happen overnight and unfortunately for the Flames the season just isn't long enough for Sutter to put his stamp on this team. While it's great to have him coaching the team I would argue that they would have been better off delaying the move until the offseason. Ward had the team heading to a top 5 pick and Sutter is going to get them to play good enough not to draft in the top 10 which isn't as ideal when you plan on making sweeping changes to the roster. A top 5 pick would have been a great start to the retool.

Good point. However the hiring of Sutter, when it happened, will help with team diagnostics leading into the trade deadline and, later, the entry draft. We’ll have a better idea of who should stay and who should go.

So because someone is remaining optimistic as a fan and cheering for them to succeed he is a troll? This place has become seriously toxic, God forbid someone should try and cheer for the team to succeed! Might be time for a break...

Did Rasmus and Tkachuk actually toy around with the game puck on a rookie goalies win? What a bunch of losers. Sore losers. Buncha no shows, but we’re gonna pout and steal the game puck. God damn embarrassing.
