That's huge to get those two back. They should both see massive minutes again this season.

Rumours of Cavalry's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Great to have the league villain back for another year. And one of the better LB's in the league. Man, Escalante sure made it seem like he was done in DM's to our group. Pleasantly surprised he has returned.

So that's 16 or 17 players signed now. Strong starters in all positions.

The roster limit is 23 players right? Who else is left that Cavalry should target for either an upgrade on starter or depth?

I would love to see Fisk but I don't think we could afford him on this roster.

A better CB than Wheeldon would be nice. Or a solid RB so Zator can go inside would also work.

Any news on Malyk Hamilton, Dean Northover or Chris Serban returning?

Now that Mavila has signed, all eyes on Hamilton. I think that he has the makings of a strong starter.

I would argue Serban is a more important signing given that he's a natural fullback, and was supposed to be the starting RB last year. Hamilton was okay at RB, but is really better as an attacker.

Do the Cavs need another U21 player? I can only see Hernandez and Pepple on the roster, and I think you need 3.

Yes. Moe El Gandour who we took in the CPL draft is 19 so we could sign him. Otherwise we could bring back either Hamilton or Loturi.

Right! El Gandour is a Calgary kid as well so you would have to assume he'll sign and play some minutes this year.

Last year we ran with just 3 U21(I think Bktar went back to school and we signed Pepple, so we never had 4). I would like to see another U21 depth piece for the season. The goal of the league is to develop Canadian kids after all.

Hamilton should be signed for sure. Loturi for super cheap depth as well. Bring in Bitar and El Gandour for the occasional minutes.

I've heard Cavalry were close to signing Maxim Tissot, who would have been the best LB in the league who can also play at LW. He's a lock to sign in Ottawa now that they are official.

Loturi has been hanging around the Foothills U-20 8v8 team when they play (Jay Wheeldon coaches this team), so take that for what it's worth. I'd expect him to be back, and I think he'll be a player.

Also, Dean is starting to ramp up his workouts and is on a ball. Doesn't have a contract yet, but given how thin they are on the back end, I'd expect him to be offered a contract.

A RB or two for sure and another couple midfielders are needed. Pepple is more of an attacking player isn’t he? I’d like to see Loturi back. Having a season of professional soccer under his belt should do wonders for his confidence going into a new season. Same reason I’d like to see Hamilton back, plus his ability to play multiple spots would be nice if injuries come up

Even another CB would be welcome for depth.

A few unknowns withstanding, Cavalry look to be pretty close to as strong as last year. It's gonna be interesting to see how much the rest of the league has improved. Pacific and York look to have strengthened the most to me. And then Ottawa is wild card.

I think that Forge will suffer. Thier offense ran through Borges, he scored 28% of their goals last season. Their only other player to score more then 4 goals was Novak.

My hope for next season is Cavs top of the table, second place York9. That outfit needs some success if they are going to stay afloat.

I saw a promotion for students for York9 that had a full season ticket package for $125.

If university students are like me 15 years ago they'll make up the difference in beer. It should help boost sales.

Potentially another CB incoming (Nef doesn't always have it right). This would push Wheeldon into the backup role which he should be better suited to.

The biggest mistake York9 needs to rectify is having the camera on the same side as their only fans. So embarrassing on TV to have a camera facing an empty overflow stand section when you already have small attendance.

Suck it up and get a boom stand like Cavalry and other teams.

For me, Cavalry and Forge are still the cream of the crop this year. Cavalry have lost Buscher and Forge have lost Borges, but the bulk of both teams will be back. Cordova may be able to replace Malonga's output and I think Adekugbe and Zebie are decent enough cover in midfield. Forge haven't signed anyone new so I don't know how they replace Borges.

I think Pacific will be very competitive and will close the gap. They only have one legit CB and their starting keeper is probably the worst in the league, but they have a very strong midfield and at forward they look decent enough. I would say they are handily in third.

York and Halifax have improved but not by much. York have lost the majority of their goals and replaced them with an oft injured forward. Outside of that I think they have a solid squad. Halifax have made a few really good signings but they need to drastically improve their squad and haven't done enough for me. They have no offense and no back line right now.

Valour and Edmonton do not look anywhere near good enough to compete. Valour had a good squad on paper that did not live up to the billing, and they will have almost fully turned over the squad. Edmonton brought back most of their team that had an uninspiring season, and haven't upgraded anywhere. Bottom feeders.

I think Ottawa have been signing players for a while and they may surprise people. Of course, no players have been announced so right now it's all speculation.
