First player to be picked at the NHL Draft out of a Canadian Midget League since 1994. That pick was Joel Irving, who Montreal selected in the sixth round from the SMAAAHL's Regina Pat Canadians.

Irving then played at Western Michigan and suited up for 404 ECHL games - but never made it to the NHL.
