In other news, can I ask how it was living through the Great Depression? Those must have been tough times!

Absolute %^&*ing joke that Gio draws two games and Dumbass gets nothing.
As has been said at most its a two minute trip.
Back to back wins against NSH and EDM would be an awesome FU to the league.

Yes but that doesn’t mean the NHL didn’t note his file and warn him on one of his previous other “trips” where he used his “leg (of which his knee is a part of)” that he wouldn’t be treated as a repeat offender the next time he did this.
He’s gotten away with a few of these in his day, it’s just catching up with him now.

Maybe Koivu will drop the mitts and fight Gio?

I'm okay with Gio getting 2. That was kneeing and a bit cheap. Gio was running hot all last night and that was very undisciplined. Team has to step up now with a big divisional game and a benchmark game.

usual contrarians siding with the league is no surprise here
enough with the rose colored glasses BS
Other than butt hurt Oiler fans the general consensus around the usual message boards today was a fine or one game tops
The fact that nobody can give one other similar incident that resulted in a similar suspension tells you everything you need to know

So we lose 3 players and minny loses one. Can't wait til that team is a bottom feeder again.

Wild are pure mediocrity with zero interesting or entertaining offensive players. They are stuck in the black hole of first-round exits. Half their fanbase are fins, which I guess is because of Koivu. Trash team and non-existent fan base for the "hockey state" of America

Everyone is a first time offender until their not. I'm sure Gio's previous 3 or 4 kneeing incidents came into account

Your the one concerned with comparables here, so why don’t you put the burden of proof on yourself and go pull a bunch of similar incidents that resulted in lesser suspensions and post them to back up your case?
Why should others need to run around and prove to you why your Flames biased opinion is incorrect? If we are arguing over 1 or 2 games we are in the weeds. Both are minor suspensions and I have no issue WHEN the league aires on the side of heavier hands on reckless plays. The fact they don’t do so consistently enough is frustrating but for the argument of you have to get it right all the time or non of the time just doesn’t hold up. The world would go to #### if things worked tgat way, let alone the NHL.

Gio's hit was a little cheap. Like others have stated, if someone did that to Gaudreau we would all be livid if there wasn't a suspension.
As for Backlund, I hope he gets healthy soon. But that play wasn't as black and white as Gio's knee on knee. Could have gone either way in terms of suspension/penalty.
No need to feel sorry for ourselves and develop that us against the world mentality. It's a reasonable outcome and we're good enough of a team to overcome it.
