Does that mean that in Smith's two shutouts, a real goalie would have allowed a negative number of goals?

Time for Peters and Treliving to have a frank honest talk with Smith telling him to stay home after they find another option.

Smith shouldn't start another game this season unless Rittich is hurt or it is a back-to-back game when they are playing 3 in 4 nights.

Oh you're right, we should continue to keep rolling with Smith. I mean there's a chance he can rebound, and maybe shutout every game for the rest of the season!

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Remember when future HOFer Brian Boucher set the consecutive shutout record and when NHL all-star Ben Scrivens has a 50+ save shutout?

Clearly it is hyperbole.
Point being, Smith let's in soft goals fairly frequently.

Is there a way to force Smith into retiring? The only positive thing Smith has done to this awesome 2018-19 team is to motivate Rittich while sitting as a back-up. Put him in a suit with Peters, Ward, and Huska. Make him and Sigalet co-goalie coaches.
And make a trade for a competent back-up...

I can tolerate him starting a road game but he is rattled at home.

I only saw the 1st period and the 1st goal stunk. I still like Smith as the backup for this team.

How can you possibly like Smith playing any games for the Flames? Unless you're not a Flames fan?

Best case scenario for Smith is play him on the road after he's had a long rest and hope.

The team just can't play their game with confidence when Smith starts. It's a vortex of suck at this point. It's hard to break out of that. Smith would need to have a long string of excellent games, but I can't see that happening.

exactly...team wants to play an up tempo game not a 90s Devils trap
Chances against are gonna happen, you need a save once in a while

It’s the colour of the pads.
Change them to white and we’re all good.

This is possibly true. I know that Bryan Elliott was insistent that it did not matter, but if I recall correctly he did play a lot better when he switched to the white pads in the 2016–17 season.
How unfortunate for Flames fans that the team's home red apparel looks so amazing. I think yellow pads on home ice would be cool.

So now we are going to blame it on the colour of his pads. He is using dark coloured pads for most of his career by the way.

I wondered if it was a contributing factor. How egregious.
