The response so far has been lukewarm to say the least...
And so it should be! As someone waiting to buy a jersey, it's nice that they finally put something in the stores I'm pretty jacked about. However, we all know this could have been the updated home last year with a beautiful road jersey to match.
Dipping their toes in ever so carefully as a retro jersey (I believe they could still have a 3rd with this one too) still shows a lot of hesitation to recommit to the palette.
12 games will be a lot of fun, hopefully this time around the jersey sales are enticing enough to see more of it!

According to Matty Merrill they made sure the stripes and logos were the exact same dimensions as the originals.

The marketing seems lazy like someone just threw the jersey on a table and took pictures of it... I'm sure it'll look better worn.
I find the NHL logo in the middle of the collar really annoying on all of these Adidas jerseys.

Interesting that he had the script third jersey shoulder patch next to him on the table when talking about the Flames 3rd jersey.

If they re-release the Homes/Aways with those should patches. I'd grab one too.

One thing that I do see quite a bit is chatter about how lazy retro designs are. Mostly on Twitter, but it seems to always come up when a retro anything rolls out.
I've done a few, and when it comes to transferring an older design onto the new templates there is a ton of care you have to put into doing this.
There will be a jersey on the ice this year that was a nightmare to get just right. Everytime you step back, it's just that little bit off and it's so easy to notice when you know what it should look like. It's easy for you to think you crushed it in a mockup, but the real version is a whole 'nother story. Funny enough, there were a bunch of mockups out there of the jersey we worked on and if anyone stitched one of them they'd look very different from the original.
Not saying that a unique design is by any stretch easier, it's just a different kind of difficult. Coming up with something the masses will rally behind, opposed to answering the call of the rally.
Really like Adidas sharing these too:

Putting the stripes at the very bottom of the jersey (no red stripe on the bottom) would have helped make it more accurate to the '89 jersey. Still very happy with the jersey and hope it just becomes the main home jersey.

Like it, and given my dog had a little chew on my reebok retro I'll pick one up for sure.

New third jersey is OK but frankly with how terrible this organizations jersey selection/design has been its a total win haha.
What they should have is this new retro third as their home. A matching white, away retro. And then a new third jersey that incorporates some black and maybe the old round third jersey should patch.
That would be a win-win-win.
This current setup means we still wear the lame vertical pipping, Alberta flag, home/aways.... which are garbage.

It's been said many times, but make this the regular uniform.
Then come out with other throwbacks, alternates and thirds throughout the seasons.
Other than the collars, these would be the same as the RBK version?

From what we've seen in the past few weeks, the new Adidas jerseys might have done away with this...
...but, with the outgoing cuts of jerseys the back is longer than the front and they tapered lower at the butt. It leaves a pretty big slab of yellow back there which does look odd.
Edit:
Lol, OR I could have just posted the perfect picture to illustrate it...

Oh, that will definitely be coming.
Maybe not soon... but it and Blasty are on my 'fun list'.
