"Stauffer noted the following: “If I’m Taylor Hall, if I do go to free agency, I’m looking to go to a place that has a couple great centres. It’s clear from those comments that Taylor learned a tough lesson. We’ve had players who didn’t want to play here. Taylor wanted to play here. Taylor wanted to be part of the equation"

Default Stone to Edmonton?

I was thinking about this today... what would it take for flames to trade stone to Edmonton? (assuming nurse doesn't sign and sits out). Would flames accept a 2nd rounder (knowing that E=NG) and it will be high? or would it be more/less? It would also help the cap for next year as well for the flames to sign Chucky and maybe a secure starting goalie? Thoughts

Well this is Chia we’re talking. He probably offers us RNH for him

I think when Brodie or Hamonic get hurt people will be happy Treliving didn't trade Stone this off-season. Wait until next off-season.

I wouldn't do anything that would possibly help those foo's.

In fact, I would phone up Chia and say "Stone for a second" and he'd agree to it, put in the paper work and then I'd fed ex him a rock.

Trade Stone to Edmonton for a 2nd rounder, then use the extra asset to facilitate a Nurse offer-sheet

The beauty of that would be that if Nurse accepted a $4M offer sheet, we would get Nurse and Edmonton’s 2nd for Stone and our 2nd, and upgrade both our roster and our draft pick, while getting younger and extending the number of years of team control.

I like your evil plan. Now we just need to convince Chia that Stone has some connection to the Oilers' glory years.

Unfortunately the Flames 2nd is property of the Islanders

Right, the conditional 2nd round pick in the Hamonic trade.

But can we still give the Oilers back their own 2nd, or does it have to be our pick to sign an offer sheet?

Clear that.whatever it takes for page clicks up there, it gets jotted down.

The guys that played the mental games with him behind the scenes and set unrealistic expectations, and scolded him for not meeting them, are still there in Lowe and McT. Eakins was their wacky creative thinking outlet.
No amount of $, for a guy who can write his own ticket, will make him go back to that toxicity.

Just a laughable, desperate peice of journalism.

And where will they get the cap space? Hall could probably sign for a $10M AAV.

Just waiting for them to write how the Oilers have a shot at trading Lucic for Laine straight up, and how Laine will be so excited about playing with McDavid that he will sign a 7-year $4M AAV extension.
