I find it hard not to cheer for Vegas to win the Cup... they're just so fun to watch.

Am I wrong in thinking too much success in the first year may not be great for the future? Let them beat the Sharks but I hope they loose the next round so the fan base can hope for more

I think in order to get hockey established in the desert it's quite a freaky fluke that this team has come together and gelled on so many levels. The castaways and unprotected are performing. It's the sense of buy in they all have and determination many teams in this league just don't have.
So I hope their run goes as long as they keep working and pushing back against adversity. MAF really made some brilliant stops tonight as well. This has been the most exciting series for me so far this year.

People who thought Vegas would only be a success because of the tourists were wrong, I tried to get tickets for the Flames first game there and gave up at over $250 USD for decent seats. Clark County has 2.2 million citizens and have been craving a pro sports team forever so I wasn't surprised.
An Estimated 35,000 fans gathered at Toshiba Plaza to party and watch the Knights first playoff game on big screens.
I still think this team could have a few lean years ahead and if they were to win the cup before the fans truly know who Sir Stanley was may not be a good thing going forward.

Its Lord Stanley.
Calling him Sir Stanley is insulting. Were you raised in a barn?

Is that true, though? People speculated that they didn't have a chance to properly build a fan base that would stick through thick and thin. Basically it was instant bandwagon fanbase.
They started with a cup and powerhouse seasons and as soon as they weren't a contender the blocks of empty seats started with proven cover ups of failing attendance.
Once they gave up on mis-reporting the official numbers drooped off a cliff, with many nights of 12-14k.

They will also be #2 game in town soon... although I still think it's a strong market.
There are a ton of out of town fans though don't kid yourself...it was 50/50 many games during the regular season. The game you are talking about it was probably Flames fans driving up the price.

Does the number of Leafs fans at a Flames game give any indication at all as to how popular the Flames are in Calgary?
I don’t think the crowd breakdown on any given night means much.
