Doh! Yeah you're right. I do think he should have been pulled after the 4th goal though, and Rittich at least should have been on notice in the intermission with the way things were going.

They played a good game tonight, out chanced Tampa and dominated possession. I wouldn't change anything either.
Smith having an off night tonight was the cause of the loss, nothing more, nothing less.

Goalies allowed 4 bad goals...IDK man
If we are talking THIS GAME (PGT) the team shouldn't change a thing for Saturday night...They should have beat the best team in the league but the goalie blew it

I don’t think it’s the time. Game plan was fine, and fairly effective, and Smith crapped the bed.
On that basis, the message has to be to stay the course, it’s time for steadiness in the leadership.

Bottom line this team should be winning at home. Has the super coach ever mentioned that?

It’s tough though - cause in the end anything he says can still be turned around on the team.
He says I should have done a better job preparing them for the third - follow up becomes about what issues mentally is the team having that they need that extra push.
Same thing if he says he should call a time out to calm the guys down - next question becomes about the teams mental fragility again.
Safest thing for him to do here is stand behind the guys, say stick to the course, and give the media nothing.
Agree that I would like something more there but I get why he framed everything how he did.

"GG: Nope. we have to stay the course. dig in a bit deeper. Go to the dirty areas. Two weeks ago we were on a 7 game win streak. Lost to the top 2 teams in the league."
You also lost to the two worst teams in the league, you little dip***"!
Stay the course, don't change anything. Ignore the 6 game losing streak...dumbest coach in the NHL.

Honestly it doesn’t matter. If GG came out and said it was on him he’d just get blamed for not being more emotional or being defeatist or having a loser attitude etc etc.
In fact the hatred for him is so deep that what happens on the ice is largely irrelevant at this point.
Until the day he gets fired he’s the whipping boy. And if we win the cup it’ll be like all the complaining never happened. But that’s unlikely, regardless of who is coaching.

Totally agree with EE re GG. Win win because either he gets us into the playoffs or he’s done the day after the season ends.

Whats with the Fake news, things are bad enough not to exaggerate...as far as I know Calgary didn't lose to Arizona recently

That is just it...in a PGT we discuss the game no? Smith blew it
Season as a whole, sure GG should be on the hot seat...he is. How many of you have a 50/50 chance of getting fired in the next few months and it all hinges on a ####ing game.
Trust me he cares...good coach or not is another story

Meh... we can argue about a time-out or not, or pulling Smith earlier or not. I thought today the Flames cheated a bit too much to create offence and were giving the Lightning too many prime chances. Yes, they out-shot the lightning doing it, but it was just too many defensive breakdowns. Smith I thought was really great.. and then for some reason he just imploded tonight. It happens to the best of them, and he has been among the best of them all season.
Although I myself would prefer a coaching change at this point, I can't point the finger at Gulutzan tonight. I think this was on the players and their poor play in the neutral zone and defensive zone, especially the bottom pairing tonight.
This one is on the players. The only argument that can be had against Gulutzan is what adjustments he could have made, or what he was saying (or not saying) to the players. If there is fault to be found with him, it isn't much in my opinion. Once again, I prefer a coaching change, but this is not a game that makes me 'demand' one.

Players' or Coach's fault?
Doesn't matter anymore, change is needed and you can't fire the whole team.
Put Tippett in there with Gelinas and a dead cat (upgrade on Cameron). Let them shake the roster up a bit and go from there. Team has all the parts in place and the potential to play well, a coaching change might just be "it".

I know it was mentioned, but it is worth repeating that this team bounced back from the Vegas loss. I thought they were full marks in the first, especially considering they had to kill 5v3 30 seconds in. PP moved the puck very well and unlucky not to score on their 2nd opportunity. I thought they deserved a couple more pp opportunities, but that is another story.
Also kudos to the 4th line, they played hell of a game.
2 points back of Anaheim with a game in hand. I am sure the same effort over the last two games going into the game against Chicago will givethe team a good chance of picking up a victory.

I didn’t mind the way the flames were trying to generate more offense. Dmen were pinching and the game was very back and forth for a while. Problem is the Flames can’t find the right balance between those two types of play. I was very entertained for the first two periods of this game
