I agree with what you are saying, but man, I really wish people would be consistent in their positions.

I'm happy Iginla is a King. I think it makes them weaker and the Flames stronger. I can't believe anyone would cheer for the Kings or anyone else just because Iginla is on the team. I thought we were Flames fans? Just want to remind people, Iginla is on team four since the he last played with the Flames. Crazy stuff.

Yeah, but what we all want to know is, are you are a fan of Jarome Iginla?
Please tell us your views on Jarome Iginla.
Thank-you in advance.

He's only one of the greatest Flames to play. How can you not cheer for him?

Dwight King was a really good foot soldier for the Kings through 2 cups, and had the 2nd most forward minutes on their PK unit (5th best in the league at 84.8%).
Different role for Iggy, but not really sure that the Kings are better on the whole after these moves.

Because I want a Cup.
Iggy was a Loyal player and a great guy and he deserves respect and I do respect him, but overall my allegiance remains to the City and the Club.
If someone has to kick Iggy in the Ear for the Flames to win a Cup there will be a line.

Kind of how like you are rage-mad at anyone who suggested we should bring in Iginla because he's older and ineffective but were upset we missed out on Steve Ott?

Yea, some people are a big fan of the greatest Flame ever and still cheer for him in the twilight of his career. That's out of this world crazy.

Iginla's value will be if he can pot some of Kopitar's set ups, imo

Iginla was a great hockey player. Loved him almost his whole career, but knew it was time to move on about 2010. One of the best Flames of all time, but the minute he decided he didn't want to be a Calgary Flame it was over and time to move on. What was in the past is in the past. Respect it, don't live in it.
Now, still carrying the torch for that girl you were dating in high school, or did you finally move on like a big boy after she hooked up with someone else and now has a husband and three kids?

If you honestly believe the Flames have a cup caliber team this season, then I want some of whatever you are smoking and/or drinking.

So you are telling me you have never cheered for a player of a different team? Never cheered Crosby? Ovechkin? Lemieux? Sakic? Yzerman?

I'm sure Iggy would have welcomed a return here, but seemed like LA were the only takers.. with the willingness to retain salary and the ridiculously low cost, I honestly doubt Tre and Burke even had a sniff of interest. He should've texted Connie to go to bat or something if he really wanted to come, haha.
Breaks my heart, but I sincerely hope he experiences the new Flames in the worst possible way, getting hit all over the place and beat to every puck and watching precious, vital points slip away while the Flames clinch a spot at LA's expense.

Nope. There is the Calgary Flames and every body else. I respect the player's talents, but they don't get my support, except in international events. There are the Calgary Flames and then there is the enemy. I loved Nieuwendyk and Roberts as Flames, but they were the enemy when they left.

That is honestly twisted it's such a creepy and off base comparison.
Hockey's a game. People like hockey players that play for both their own team and others. In this case, we're talking about the greatest player in the history of our team.
And you're outright dumbfounded some people feel differently than you and still want to see him do well? Seriously?

Some of the comments I hear from people are just defy logic, Flames fans or not.
Iginla doesn't have much time left in the league and the probability for a Cup is low but unless the Kings or his next potential team are literally playing us in the playoffs, than why wouldn't you cheer for Iginla?
If it comes down to the Kings in a playoff spot vs us making the playoffs than I am 100% on the Flames side. If the Kings or Iginla isn't directly facing us in the playoffs, than why wouldn't I want him to try and win?
I have literally heard from dozens of Flames fans about how we should cheer for Ovi, Crosby, Hossa, Lundquivst, Borque and whole host of other players to win Cup's but we should try and crap all over Iginla? A 10 year captain? #1 in goals? All the community and city work he did? Seems strange to me to be so against this guy winning UNLESS it's competing against us.
I don't want to hear the stupid argument that the Kings are competing with us for the playoffs because that is nothing new and isn't news. Iginla has been a King for 8 hours here and this hate towards the guy winning goes back to when he left and carried to the other teams as well.
I just don't get how SOOO many fans have completely changed their tune on one of the best players to ever play the game, all over the potential he may or may not have vetoed a trade to Boston and we could have maybe gotten Matt Bartowski instead of the prospects from Pittsburgh? Up until a few days ago this guy wasn't even in the NHL and now were gonna hate on Iginla?
I just can't recall another sport or another sports town crap all over a legend trying to win the championship even when their own team isn't being affected. Strange all around.

They are still in direct contention for the wild card spots. I understand the sentimentality behind defending Iginla or cheering him on a different team. But when it's against a team like LA, whose season series with us will decide the Pacific playoff picture, then that sentimentality is going to fall on a whole lotta deaf ears. Just saying.
You saw how close the split was in the poll thread. I wouldn't expect them to suddenly change their tack.
