I've been a long time booster and supporter of his, have tried to be pragmatic about his future with this team but Treliving needs to find a way to keep him past next season. He's almost at 4/season so find the 1-1.5 and get it done.
Center is a foundational position for building a team and Monahan, Backlund and Bennett is strong.

He seems of such average size for a player who cinstantly uses his body to shield the puck.

He's scoring a ton of goals from in tight. I am not sure why. Maybe he is faster or stronger this year?
One of his old problems was he doesn't have the shot to score from outside of the slot, but time and again this season there he is within about 10 feet of the ice sniping in goals.
I don't get it. I don't think it all comes down to confidence though that is certainly part of it. Physically, he seems more assertive. Mentally he seems pissier in general but he seems to be playing a different style of game physically than in previous seasons.
Maybe he's been pounding fight milk or something.

Oilers down 2-1 in the third against the caps. Flames are also up 4-2.

I think it's his speed, not his shot. He has always placed pretty high on the hardest shot list for the Flames.
His confidence with his space and his ability to escape pressure with his speed is what has put him over the edge IMO.
I remember us playing the wild a couple years ago and Backlund did a spin on the boards where he would normally blindly rip it back to the point, but he kept, escaped two defenders and scored. Since then, he's been doing it fairly consistently.

If you were just listening to the Florida broadcast in the background and not actually watching, you'd think the Panthers were dominating this game. These guys get ridiculously excited every time the puck comes anywhere near the Flames net, even if it's just a harmless shot/routine save by Johnson. It's kind of annoying.

Well, in their defence, there's been no such thing as a harmless/routine save in Calgary for at least the better part of two seasons.

Panthers are just a half second late on every puck.
OR
The Flames are anticipating the play so well that they get to the pucks a half second early.
Whichever way you like it.

Or SNET has gotten so bad that the puck is now out of sync with the rest of the game.

That is a terrible ####ing turnover by Ferland at the red line.
Garbage, absolute garbage. Carry it in or dump it in but do something other than barf it up in transition.

Trochek is such a fake tough guy. I love him as a player but I hope Ferland clocks him.

While I agree it was not the best play, geez. You make it sound like that's the worst play any Flames has made all game.
