The amount of time he had, you figured he kinda knew that. Get lucky with a catch, or a long incompletion, or, at worse an INT would be better field position then a punt. But then the D has to stop them on 2nd and 10 to make the field position strategy work.

Or he's playing like complete garbage, which based on the rest of the half, and the throw immediately before that throw is a far more likely answer.
