They made the playoff two years ago. You make it seem like they've been terrible for 3 straight seasons

Johnny needs to quit whining when he doesn't get a call and get his ass back in the play.
Gio has been a bit of a dumpster fire with no wheels.
Tkachuk and Chiasson have been our most dangerous forwards offensively. That is not ok.
Bouma has done nothing but wasted minutes..

You know it's bad when you vent like that and don't even mention Wideman.

Very much looking forward to the next game when we're actually not playing a team faster than we are.

Not at all, I just mean that it's always the excuse when a game goes sideways. It's the same as "we got to give it 100%, play a 200 foot game, minimise chances"
It's always a problem when problems exist. So either it's something deeper, or it's meaningless, but it's certainly not "fixable"

Hopefully. I haven't been impressed with the Flames' speed. Monahan/Tkachuk/Gio should be skating better than they have so far

Last three seasons Flames have been 27th, 16th and 26th overall in a 30 team league. So that is 2 terribles and a barely average. The average is closer to terrible than anything else...

Just watch the after game GG video and the Eric Francis question made me think about over 50% of this board. Your team gave up 5 breakaways like how do you explain that?!?! Gulutzan proceeds to explain 4 of the 5 breakaways - 2 from Connor, one being a bad bounce, the other being just his skill (with Engo defending), one being a out of box break ect.
It's like a breakaway has never happened before the way EF asked that. The response after two games to start the season is kinda disappointing, I get that it's Edmonton but still come on guys and gals, this isn't a 0 and 10 start its a 0 and 2 start. String together 60 minutes of that first period and this place is gonna be gushing about this team, I see lots to like its just going to take a bit of time to get all cylinders firing. I'm patient enough to give it time, I've been waiting 180 days to see this season, not writing it off 3 days/2 games in.

Good reason why we switched up the coaching staff... Give them more than 2 games they have tones of talent and skill at their disposal to work with. Important word there is WORK, which is what this will take. By game 15/20 they are going to be hitting their stride, really like the elements of this system, like the PP when it's been able to gain the zone and setup, we just need to execute now and consistently.

*sobbing uncontrollably on everyone's shoulder*
That doesn't count as panicking.

TBH It's more fun to watch the panic that occurs after 2 games.
I'm as disappointed as everyone else. But how could no one see this coming? Common. The Flames usually start out bad every season. Literally EVERY season with the exception of a couple. This is the norm.
Johnny had no training camp. The team has a new system. Monahan is coming off an injury. Elliot is very quickly learning that the Flames are no where close to the Blues. Edmonton is riding a high with all the changes they have made. Hamilton is a notorious slow starter every year. Same with Gio and Brodie.
The coach is a complete unknown. Not some robotic entity where what you see is what you get. He's human also and will take time to learn exactly what the players' strengths are and what works best for the. That will take time and patience.
This is entirely predictable for a team that is STILL rebuilding going into year 4. The game isn't played on paper, it's on the ice. Clearly it will take a while for everything to come together and gel, if that even happens.

Another slow start by the Calgary Flames. You can set your watch by it. I still maintain that this is the best roster the Flames have had for several years. It will get better. If they are still dropping winnable games like this by the end of October, then I will panic.

I know right.. Wideman is the dead horse or obvious culprit but the dependable didn't do much to counter Wideman..

We're lucky we even got the one good year in there.

I could not agree more. I think a key point here for is to keep expectations in check. At this point there is little hard evidence Flames are a good team. GG is being charged with changing it up, not stay the course.

Wasn't questioning the rebuild, dude.
Just pointing out what I saw as a misinterpretation of this team's success the last few years.

I see. I didn't trace back through the convo, my bad.
Even still, being terrible for 3 of the last 4 seasons should have been expected by the entire fan base. (whoever it was complaining about it really shouldn't be)
They should be turning the corner this season, if they don't then something is definitely wrong though IMO.

It's not that they lost 2 straight . It's that's they lost 2 straight to the oilers . A team that has been in the bottom of the league got a decade.
So either they have finally improved . Or we suck

I had this thought last night too. I'm not sure what I should cheer for.
