RNH would have been a good choice for captain. 5 years in the NHL already. Or Saad who has two Stanley Cups.

RNH would have been a reasonable captain choice. Saad doesn't even wear a letter on the Blue Jackets, so I don't know how much of a leader type he is. No sense giving it to someone who's never led a team before, much less one as talented as this one.

RNH makes more sense than McDavid. But coach Todd can't very well do that when he's being told to make McD the captain of the Oilers.

You guys care far too much about three stars.

I didn't get to watch the games yesterday. Is Canada and NA the teams to beat?

From what I can tell, yes.

If I was a USA fan I'd be pissed at this tournament. Johnny would be a difference maker on that team, along with Eichel. The US isn't quite like Canada where you could send two teams so therefore losing a couple young stars doesn't hurt.

They also missed a huge opportunity in their pursuit of hockey exposure in the States by not having two up and coming mega stars in Eichel and Gaudreau in a prime tournament in the North American time zones on team USA.

This would have been one hell of a talented and most importantly fun/exciting roster for casual Americans to cheer on.

I for one, don't want a strong USA team.

Gaudreau with Kane would be cool yes. I think that's something every hockey fan would like to see.

There's no guarantee the peole who put this US team together would have brought Gaudreau anyways. Not enough grit.

I didn't realise Tyler Johnson was American...

Inexcusable to leave Kessel and Johnson at home but take plugs like Dubinsky and Abdelkader.

"Built to beat Canada" my ass - remember 2014, when the Americans never had the puck? I predict more of the same.

Screw that. Let both Matthews and McDavid crash and burn.
It's also a little heartening to see that both of these wunderkinder have about as much personality as drywall. Maybe, just maybe, that'll help diminish the media's slobbering all over them. But who am I kidding...

Completely agree. Team NA screws over the Americans while having zero effect on Canada. A better idea would have been two Canadian teams, either picked by a draft or by having an U25 team.

Stfu

Really hard to say which media circle jerk is worse, Toronto or Edmonton.

You'll need to keep a barf bag handy for Leafs vs. Oilers games.

My Favorite part of Gaudreau's game is how he goes to his off wing along the blue line to create so many 2 on 1's.

I've never seen a player take a pass on his off wing on the blue line and create so many 2 on 1's.

He's a left winger but really he's a rover going to the best areas on the ice instead of playing in cement in fear of being out of position.
