Maybe we should be cautious about the goalie that the Flames first trade for. What if they truly aren't keen on keeping Ortio and they first acquire their backup? People will be hell bent on breaking things if a trade is announced for a player who appears at best to be a backup... order would only be restored if a trade was later announced for one of the previously mentioned starters.

If the Flames could land Bishop or Elliott I would be thrilled.
Fleury meh. Hate the length of that contract as well for an inconsistent Goalie in big games.
Reimer a lateral move don't care for it certainly not a let's make the playoffs anytime soon addition.
Varlamov way too injury prone.

The issue I see with this is Reimer will probably want 3-4 years at 4 mil. If Elliott out plays Reimer and is a UFA next summer you could be looking to ditch a very bad contract in Reimer to sign Elliott

Just because Elliot may outplay Reimer, doesn't necessarily mean that Reimer is on a bad contract.

CGY working to get a goalie. Have had talks with TB on Bishop and with STL on Elliott. CGY has permission to talk to Bishop about extension.

Acquisition and contract costs higher on Bishop than Elliott obviously. Elliott may be more affordable. In any case, the hunt continues.

You'd think that means the parameters of a Bishop trade are in place, wonder what it looks like.... as long as it doesn't involve the core six players or 6th overall, would be a huge addition - would also prefer to see them hang on to Backlund as well.

Like this move. If they can get him at a reasonable price go for it, the guy is awesome. If it turns out he wants too much money or he isn't interested in playing here then move on to Elliott. I'd prefer Bishop but Elliott might not be bad either.

That's a significant development. To me this speaks to the Flames balking at acquisition cost unless they can get some assurances from Bishop camp.
That would also signal that the construction of a deal is pretty far along. I'm fearful of the 6th OA being part of this package

If 6th OA is involved (Which I don't believe it is). Pass. Go to Elliott for a 2nd.

It's not going to cost the 6th. Treliving knows how important the need of a top flight winger is for this team.

Aww snap son, I like how that sounds. There's no chance Bishop takes less than 6 a year though right? So what, like 5/30 hopefully?

I bet it's going to be steep but there's no what they'll trade 6th overall for a 30 year old goalie, no matter how badly needed.
Based on Andersen, could see something like two 2nd rounders and 1 of any of our prospects for a signed Bishop.

Scoring Winger

There is no way we give up our 6th for any goalie we've been linked with. Conroy sounded really happy with having 6th and I believe that we'll get a goalie for a fair price. Bishop for 6th is not fair value, in my books at least.
