I will post in the YKWRMMH thread when this post drops off the first page. I can't believe this made 16 pages of babble.

Your bar on what qualifies as 'goon' behavior is exceptionally low.

We don't pay those idiots to stand around and waste time, which is precisely what they were doing. Stalling. I say this as someone who voted NDP in the Federal election. Given their recent behavior, and especially that of Mulcair, I am exceedingly happy that the party I voted for didn't win.

Rigth, and if the NDP didn't block a guy trying to get by like a bunch of juveniles(would you do that at work? I mean that's so effin' petty, these guys should be above that), Trudeau doesn't go all 'goon'. It was idiocy all around.

Hopefully they all learn from their mistakes.

JT pulled this stunt to take the media's attention off of the Transmountain Pipeline Approval! Brilliant!

I keep seeiing people argue that the NDP were somehow holding up the vote, they could have started the vote whether or not the Conservative Whip was in place, it just didn't matter. There was no reason for Trudeau to get involved period except for theatrics.

At the end of the day the best thing that happened were that the Liberals were forced to withdraw a pretty odorous motion.

So what was the point of them holding him up?

So what was the point of Trudeau trying to play cop when he had absolutely zero authority to do so?

Well clearly he just got irritated and made a bad decision. But it's a serious question on my part. Why were the NDP MPs trying to get in the way of the whip if it wasn't to delay the vote? I really don't know.

Nah it was obvious that the NDP were trying to delay the vote, not the best conduct on their part, but I guess the thinking is what else could they do to call attention to a motion that they felt was bad.

Trudeau was way over the top stupid, thuggish and he embarrassed himself, his party and the office that he occupied.

The people that are somehow blaming the female MP in this have lost perspective on things.

Are the NDP milking it? Sure, I would admit to that, but if the shoe was on the other foot and a Conservative or NDP'er in the Prime Ministers office came storming across swearing and grabbing people and swinging elbows, I tend to believe that the condemnation would be way stronger.

All sides should be embarrassed, but Trudeau supremely so, and his first and second apology didn't come across as I'm was wrong I did something stupid, it was sorry your feelings got hurt, he didn't help himself there.

Well I do think they were trying to delay it...but I really don't blame them as it was a really really bad piece of legislation that the Liberals have since dropped.

That happened only because of this brouhaha reaching the levels it did. the way they went about this is ridiculous and i think everyone with a lick of common sense would agree, particularly the assinine comparisons to abuse of women.

That said though...the Liberals look just as bad in this as the NDP ( or more correctly Trudeau looks bad) not only because of his stupidity in trying to play hall monitor, but bringing attention to a motion that they were going to ram through that was as undemocratic as anything any party has done in that chamber.

Some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things'll go your way
Hold on for one more day

In retrospect this will be good comedy. Political demonstrations around the world protesting war criminals, poverty and injustice... meanwhile Canada has a PM most guilty of accidentally grazing a boob because he had a bad day.

And trying to subvert the democratic processes of the house.

He didn't have a bad day he acted like a spoiled brat.

In times of pressure character isn't built its revealed.

No, I'm sorry, but you don't get to refer to someone bumping into you as 'assault' or 'violence against women' and expect a free pass. THAT is a loss of perspective.

As one must!
Quote:
The Total Perspective Vortex derives its picture of the whole Universe on the principle of extrapolated matter analyses. To explain – since every piece of matter in the Universe is in some way affected by every other piece of matter in the Universe, it is in theory possible to extrapolate the whole of creation – every sun, every planet, their orbits, their composition and their economic and social history from, say, one small piece of fairy cake.

The man who invented the Total Perspective Vortex did so basically in order to annoy his wife.

Trin Tragula – for that was his name – was a dreamer, a thinker, a speculative philosopher or, as his wife would have it, an idiot. And she would nag him incessantly about the utterly inordinate amount of time he spent staring out into space, or mulling over the mechanics of safety pins, or doing spectrographic analyses of pieces of fairy cake.

“Have some sense of proportion!” she would say, sometimes as often as thirty-eight times in a single day.

And so he built the Total Perspective Vortex – just to show her.

And into one end he plugged the whole of reality as extrapolated from a piece of fairy cake, and into the other end he plugged his wife: so that when he turned it on she saw in one instant the whole infinity of creation and herself in relation to it. To Trin Tragula’s horror, the shock completely annihilated her brain; but to his satisfaction he realized that he had proved conclusively that if life is going to exist in a Universe of this size, then the one thing it cannot afford to have is a sense of proportion.
