We get it, you cheer for the Sharks now. No need to jump over anyone who chooses not too, and ask how they could possibly dislike San Jose. Nobody needs to justify who they are cheering for.
Go East!!

A *divisional* one?
In case you missed it, they're in our division and we play them multiple times a year every year.
It's cool some of you don't seem to care about that, but there's no need to act dumbfounded some of us aren't on board cheering on a divisional rival (not saying just you).

What? Are you giving credit to them for losing the game after that hit but waiting 2 days and being energized?

I've been to 5 playoff games this season. The city is getting electric now. Nice to see for these fans after so many years. Pavelski, Burns, and Couture have been amazing.
The depth in San Jose this year is the difference. Guys like Donskoi and Ward have given this team the depth that they never had in previous years. Jones has also been an upgrade on what they had in the past. 0.936 save percentage at home in the playoffs.
Go Sharks. 4 more wins.

I've seen it all folks.

I'm a Flames fan first and foremost and have been since the Jets left the league in the 90s.
When I picked this username, there were no Jets.
Regardless, my point stands. I'm not telling you or anyone else not to cheer for the Sharks. Buy a jersey for all I care. I'm saying don't act dumbfounded some of us aren't hopping on a divisional rival's bandwagon.
Seems like that should be pretty straight forward.

I realize that, but we have been in their division for a whopping two years and no amount of tuesday night snoozers in that time frame has been enough to suggest we have a rivalry. I don't consider a team being in your division as a prerequisite to be considered a rival. There has to be some bad blood. There has to be a Roughned Odor punch to the jibs, IMO.

We've played them in the playoffs several times, they're in our division and we've played them an increased number of times in the last few seasons in some important games for both teams.
Again, not telling you not to cheer for them. But asking "what rivalry" when it comes to a team in our division really made me think you're being obtuse.

Flames were able to handle the sharks at times this year. Weird that they are in the SCF over the kings, hawks, ducks..
Jones must be a heck of a goaltender.
Sharks fans are still some of the worst. May make it impossible to cheer for them.

I don't think theirs a long enough history and a lack of substance in whatever history that is for me to even lift my finger in protest of Shark success.
Now when theres a soft spot in every flames fans heart for the Carolina Hurricanes for the sole reason that they prevented the grease from getting another cup in 06, thats real rivalry. Its completely irrelevant to the Flames, yet we love them for it.
Again, just my opinion. If there was such a rivalry I don't think you'd see the vast majority here offering any sort of congratulations for the sharks

I really can't be any more clear:
Some of us find the fact they're in our division enough to not cheer for them. That is what a divisional rival is.
Again, the post above seems to be dumfounded by that notion.
It's really a head-scrather.

With San Jose's win, there are now only 5 teams in the NHL that have never made the Stanley Cup Final: the last four expansion teams, and the Jets/Coyotes.

What exactly are we rivalling them for? Last I checked, they were in the SCF and we didn't make the playoffs.
It's not like there's "bad blood." I'm all for crushing the Sharks next season but them winning a Stanley Cup has exactly zero impact on the Flames at this point. If anything, the Stanley Cup hangover that hits a lot of teams would benefit the Flames immensely if the Sharks won.
Real Flames fans cheer for the Sharks.

This just shows you're trolling, because there's been several people on the last few pages alone saying they don't care to cheer for a divisional rival.
I'm only going to say it one last time and then I'm done explaining something that's so painfully simple: It's fine if you (or anyone else here) wants to cheer for San Jose. But some Flames fans aren't down with cheering for a divisional rival.
If you can't understand that, you're either dense or being purposely obtuse. In either case, all the more power to you.

Everyone understands your point, no need to explain repeatedly.
It's just not very strong. If you have a reason why this NHL constructed rivalry is relevant for the next two weeks, now is a good time to mention it.
It was just Wednesday Night, the NHL on NBC's classic "Rivalry Night." No better time to hash this out!

How would a Sharks hangover benefit the Flames? The other teams in our division would benefit just as much if that was the case making the benefit to the Flames moot.
Edit: I'm also cheering for the Sharks but not for any Flames related reason. I want to see Pavelski win the cup. One of the best players in the NHL and plays the game it should be played.
