Yup guarantee Eakins turns out to be the next Scotty now that he's left the Oilers.
It'll be great to laugh at the Oilers fans who blamed everything on him.

I agree. If they were going to hire Carlyle, why wouldn't they just keep Hartley? They're similar hard ass type coaches that have weak possession numbers. Carlyle would be a crappier Hartley essentially.

I dunno man, Eakin's "roll over like dogs" method in practice is pretty comical and no good

Eventually a couple of expansion teams will be added which will nestle the Oilers into 16th.

If Eakins is the head coach of the Ducks next year I will put $100 on the Flames finally breaking the curse and winning in Anaheim. I don't care how good of an AHL head coach he is he was one of the worst NHL head coaches I have ever seen.

His only fault really was taking the job. Lowe heard from the media types how coveted he was as an assistant and decided to jump the line and hide him as a head coach.Added him to the pile of the rest of the mess Lowe had assembled, often also based on stroking his own ego by doing things differently and wanting to be recognized for that, and Eakins never had a chance.
Akin to Feterik bringing in Matt Dunigan to coach (and be GM!) of the Stamps that one year. Who knows if Eakins is ready yet to be a head coach but am guessing at some point he will when he has a roster that weren't full of low confidence under achievers not knowing how to play an NHL style game.

Maybe he realized how moronic the organization was and finally decided to troll the whole bunch of them.
Hmm, let's see how far I can take this.... "okay guys, now I want you to roll over like dogs"
Hah they actually did! This is the best worst job ever!

I'm in the Nate Leaman camp. Just makes sense to me that he would be the right choice instead of recycling one of the above dinosaurs.

I know Providence was low scoring but successful. Can anyone comment on their style? Is there any entertainment value?

According to hockeydb.com, Bruce Boudreau is 5'10" and weighs 175 pounds. He's in great shape for a 60+ year-old, so I think the Flames should hire him.
(Seriously, they should hire him)

Didn't he also use the "Swarm Defence" and players on other teams mock the Oilers for playing like a junior team.

Defence first, Dave Tippetish from what I've seen and read. Not much for entertainment value.

If it wasn't for Jankowski and Gillies, 99% of people here wouldn't recognize the name. Jumping from coaching in college to the NHL is a big jump. If the Flames are looking for a rookie NHL coach I would rather them go after an AHL coach like Travis Green.

I think Dave Lowry would be a good choice, former captain and leader for this franchise.

I sure hope the Flames are finding a way to keep their interview process going with Treliving in Russia. If he comes back with nothing done in a few weeks and 3 of the best candidates are off the market I am going to be seriously pissed off.
But as long as it's not Carlyle in the end I can deal, that would be an Oilers level hire.

Treliving stated that him going to Worlds will have no affect on his search for a new coach.

The fact that he wasn't fired may mean he wasn't the problem
