Bennett is probably a leader too, but let's not start this garbage.
Yeah, alright. You win this time, MMF

The Flames D plus Bennett, Frolik, Hudler (seems to be back on his game) and better supporting guys like Backlund and Jones should still win against that poor Leafs lineup.

Monahan to me hasn't been ready for a lot of games this year. Hopefully it's a wake up call to him.

Whether being late played a part in that I don't know but he just seemed more ready last season. It takes him a period or two to seem like he's in the game. Luckily he's still young and can learn from some of our good leaders.

Agreed - my Dad always told me "if you can party at night, you can get up in the morning!"

What annoys me as a paying fan is the timing. Hartley could have scratched those guys yesterday and I could have made other plans tonight.

According to Mark Spector, Gaudreau showed up 30 minutes earlier than Monahan and Bouma who were 15 minutes early to a 10:30 practice.

They must have missed a video session and/or team meeting before the practice.

Glad there are people here comparing their job to that of a pro athlete.

Keep your analogies to yourself Suzy Lunchpail and Joe Sixpack

Right or wrong, there is going to be A LOT of PO'd fans that paid huge money for tickets to the years most expensive game. I don't know how I feel about that. Kinda a damned if he does, damned if he doesn't position for Hartley, but if the fans really mean as much as the team says they do, they maybe should have looked at a alternative form of discipline considering this is the AAA game of the year for a big chunk of the fans in attendance.

That pro part is supposed to mean "professional"! That is what we are talking about.

I'm sure Treliving, maybe even Burke will chime in, and say this was a team decision, not a coach decision, and try and deflect some of it away from Hartley. Clearly after yesterday this is Hartley, and this is the way he decided to deal with it.

If this is a first offense, this could've been handled by Hartley in a number if ways, internally for sure but also within the game. Bench these guys for the first period. Don't play them on the PP. That will raise enough questions in the media and get the players and the rooms attention.

Instead he went with the Blair Jones treatment.

We will see how this plays out medium and long term. If this is Hartley trying to pull the room back, that he thinks is slipping away, this is a risky move to pull by throwing these guys out there like this.

He said "this is not a one off. It's probably an issue that's been dogging this team all year."

Sounds more like his opinion over fact.

Think some of you, for crying out loud.
If this had been building, why choose a home game, especially one that used to be one of the biggest draws, to send the message. Who is the dummy? The fans who bought tickets are the only ones being punished.
