True. The latest trailer just above your post revealed a few 'extended' moments of earlier trailer scenes that I would have preferred to have seen in the actual movie.
I should learn.. Oh well, hope it fades from my memory by the time the release rolls around.

Just out of curiosity, how to decide what movies to see if you never watch a trailer or rarely listen to a review? Do you have a group of actors or directors you follow? Decide based on the title? Scroll through Netflix and pick something random?

I disagree, trailers just build the hype for me. Sometimes it can back fire and let me down (Suicide Squad) and other times it can be like holllyyy crapppp this was worth it!! Like Civil War or I am going to guess, Rogue One.
They've done an amazing job with the trailers for this movie, it looks like a mission ripped straight out of Imperial Assault (not that IA is the standard, but just a heavy source of interest for me). FYI if you are avoiding trailers I would be avoiding this thread, discussing the content of trailers is 100% fair game.

I've avoided all the trailers for this, other than the first one. I know I want to see it, so why get all these bits and pieces before hand? I'd rather see it with as little knowledge of the plot as possible so I discover it as the filmmakers want it revealed.

Word of mouth, aggregate scores, which actors are in it and who directed it. People watched movies before the era of trailers, when a 30 second commercial spot gave away very little. It's not hard to figure out Inception might be good and Love Guru will suck. I got enough info on Dr Strange to know I probably won't like it having seen no trailers or reviews. The general reactions and word of mouth say enough.
Going to see this Star Wars movie and definitely don't need a trailer to help guide the decision. Imagine going in to see a movie you know absolutely nothing about, it greatly increases enjoyment as you have zero idea what to expect. All I know is there's likely a female protagonist and Rogue one probably means leader of an xwing squadron. Female xwing squad leader? If that's the case it's more than I want to know already.
Back when the Matrix came out I saw it on a whim and was completely blown away. I'll never forget the moments when Neo took the pill and was released. Having foreknowledge would have ruined it but having zero idea about what it was besides the name of the movie made for a memorable experience

For a guy who doesn't watch trailers, you sure post a lot in the trailers thread.

Looks like Jimmy Smits is back as Bail Organa in Rogue One, picture from US Weekly in link:

He looks good.
Also the movie will be 133 minutes long.

excellent, I like Jimmy Smits in the prequels as Bail Organa. With him and with the actress who was cut out of the prequels who played Mon Mothma, and then adding in a fairly major Clone Wars series character the circle is now complete.

Seems sales are quite a bit slower for this one. Still tons left for opening night IMAX at chinook. Last time it seemed like a whole weeks worth of IMAX shows sold out in a few hours.

What do you think this needs to make for more of the "stories" to get made?

^ This shouldn't surprise you. TFA hype was enormous, multi-generational, and became the cultural film event of the decade.
Rogue One will do very well but won't come close to matching it's opening weekend or overall box office.

The only time I watch trailers is for movies that I borderline want to see. I let the trailer sway my decision.
A movie that I'm already anticipating anyway? I maintain radio silence until I see the movie, then I delve into reviews/trailers/fan response afterwards.
Side note: I probably should have broke my own rule for "The Hobbit" since that was an abomination to fantasy film and an abhorrent and utter disaster when it comes to keeping in line with Tolkien lore. I legit almost barfed at the budding love story between a dwarf and [a made up] elf, and almost walked out of the theater when the love triangle formed. So much wrong with those movies. I suppose the only reason I stayed was because I'm cheap and wouldn't give the studio my money for free.

Honestly I don't think there is any number that changes Disney's plans. This movie will be successful but won't be as big as TFA. I think they know they can go to teh well quite a few more times before interest is close to saturated.

No, it certainly doesn't surprise me that it isn't selling as fast as TFA but when I bought tickets they were literally the only two sold in the whole theatre. That surprised me a bit. Figured it'd be slightly less busy, not completely void of interest.
