Come on now, Monahan, Gaudreau, Jooris, Granlund ect. have not been rushed, all started with sheltered minutes and have had to prove they can earn their keep. I have no doubt Bennett would be treated the same when he cracks the lineup.

If Bennett plays tonight they better have jerseys ready at the Fan Attic.
Seriously though he needs to get his timing and awareness back, OHL then AHL then NHL.
If they dress him against the Ducks, he will get crushed. Bobble puck, look down and POW!

Maybe he can handle the NHL, but maybe they want to ease him back into the speed of things. The NHL is much quicker than the OHL and he can go to the OHL and work on his game for the rest of the year and maybe that will be enough for him to be prepared to join Adirondak or maybe even Calgary for the playoffs.

Exactly, there is no rush and the timing doesn't make sense right now given his injury and what point of the season it is. And then there is the risk of throwing him into an adult league right after serious shoulder repairs. Allowing him to adjust in the OHL seems less risky than the NHL or AHL.
At the start of next season, he will only be 3 months older than Monahan was when he stepped in right after junior. There is no rush to get him into the NHL.

Even though it was said by the former GM, according to the Flames the biggest single mistake in handling Baertchi was building up hype by letting him play those 5 games back in 2012.
If they were ever considering playing Bennett, they must really think the world of his mental side, because I'm sure lots of people in the organization have compared the situations.

No, giving him a top 6 role reeks of the Oilers.
Seeing if he can earn one is just good management.
Did Boston go full Oiler by playing Pastrnak?
Did Colorado, Florida, Nashville, Carolina, Calgary, Buffalo or Dallas go full Oiler last year by playing MacKinnon, Barkov, Jones, Lindholm, Monahan, Ristoleinen or Nichushkin?
This Oiler thing really needs to stop.

The only reason I'd like to see him play is because Sportnet and Kypreos said he was heading back... And then TSN can swoop in 2 minutes before game time and call his attendance... Further sticking it to Sportsnet and the 12 Years of Slave and giving me hope of hearing Kypreos complain again that those *explicit guys from TSN keep trying to discredit him.

Or Seguin, who was a part of a Cup squad his rookie year and a SCF squad the next.

I think it's a safe bet, Kypreos is very close with Gilmore, I assume Gilmore would know if his star player is coming back.

Because its putting Bennett in limbo as opposed to just letting him go out there and play without distractions after such a brutal injury. You don't need any data to know that its a next to impossible ask for a young kid to succeed in this situation.
If the flames had done anything but send him back to junior I would seriously question the motivation at this point in the season.
Excellent move.

Or....
They watched him in practice and determined he wasn't ready.
If they had decided prior to even seeing where he was in practice, then they could have announced it a while ago and eliminated speculation and not unnecessarily raised his hopes.
