One of yesterday's games, for example, was wildly exciting despite possibly the worst officiating in the history of the World Cup.

Major elbow by a Nigerian player to the face of an Australian. So far away from the ball though that no official saw it. Hopefully that gets suspended anyway.

Nigeria had won me over prior to this incident. So easy to cheer for them with their determination and incredible fans making a ton of noise.
Then the girl goes and punches her in the throat, the don't play the ball out, idiot ref lets play go on after a head injury, and Nigeria throws it back into themselves after the ball is finally played out. Embarrassing.

Nope, didn't claim it to be. Japan plays next, it'll fill a bit - smart having them play in Vancouver obviously. And smart having the US play in Winnipeg. The smart moves in scheduling kind of fall apart after group stage, however.

It's women's football. This isn't some gender bias statement, but the fact is refereeing this atrocious shouldn't have to be tolerated.

I saw the one missed call on the Thailand goal (I think their third), which was about 5 feet offside, but didn't see any other poor calls in that highlight reel?

Winnipeg PACKED for USA-SWE, probably most important game so far. For all intetnts and purposes, the loser will end up flying across the country to play Brazil one day less rest. Winner will play in Edmonton the following day.

Bachmann just scored twice in less than a minute for Switzerland, that has to be a record. 7-0.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, I don't think it was offside. The girl nearest to us was, but the one on the far side who ends up getting the ball wasn't.

lol, three players get hat tricks in the Switzerland-Equador game. Unfortunately for Ponce, two of her goals went into her own net.

Incredible save in the 77th minute by the US defender on a play from a corner to keep the US Sweden game tied at 0's
