Awesome. One good thing in a sad world where the CFL folds is the blades and pats can have foaming at the mouth fans and the rest of Canada can forget about the complete pigs for fans that exist in that crap hole province.

Like I said, a larger than normal portion of their fan base is morally bankrupt.

And on a side note, I've heard in the past from someone within the Stamps organization that they couldn't care if the Riders ever played in Calgary. The extra security they have to hire and all the BS their staff have to put it up with on game day more than offsets the slight bump in revenue they get when the Riders in town that their fans seem to think they cherish so much.

Totally agree. As a season ticket holder, I refuse to take my kids to a game where the rider drunks are in attendance.

That response was from someone pretty high up in the Stamps when I complained about always seeming to play the Riders on a Thursday night or Sunday/Monday afternoon in Calgary.

There wasn't much Riders fans at McMahon last week anyway. It appears the air is slowly coming out of the balloon.

I can absolutely back that up.
Also remember when the Stamps used to open Foothills part for drinking before Stamps game, but had to kill it because Rider fans were completely out of control.
At the end of the game, there are Roughrider fans and Rider fans. Rider fans are an idiot group that like to sit behind the Visitors bench and act like idiots and throw beer at the opposing players. Roughrider fans are good and passionate and knowledgeable.

A few things:
-The Stamps didn't 'open Foothills' for Rider fans, that was the Calgary Vipers trying to scrape revenue. Ironically, all the head office leaders were from Manitoba, and tried one year to do it at a Bombers game, which was a big flop.
-The Stamps made plenty of money having Rider games on weekends...You could hire hundreds of security guards with the ticket revenue alone. However, I think there was the long term concerns of season ticket holders not wanting to go to that game, and getting soured on the product as a whole, putting pressure on the Stamps to request less booze friendly dates.
-Good analogy on the 'Rider fans' Roughrider fans' scenario. A ton of younger fans don't have any humility when it comes to their team, and the Riders becoming a CFL power at the same time Saskatchewan as a province was doing well I think pumped their heads up way too much. There are great Saskatchewan football fans, bu there are a number of really, really bad ones.

You know what I love about this mess that Riders fans have caused themselves? Is that they're easily the most hated fan base in the CFL.
Bomber fans, Stamps fans and now Eskimo fans share this common deep hatred for them now.
So glad they're sitting at 1-5, the whole league is enjoying it

They were before this mess. I haven't seen a single person say a nice thing about the Riders other than their own fans or TSN in a decade. Even at the Grey Cup which I attend regularly there is a growing contingent of people that are not happy with Rider fans and that may be the most fan neutral event I have ever been to.
The problem with Rider fans is that they now believe their own press clippings.
It's pretty weird. I generally like most people from Saskatchewan I meet. Seem to have similar personalities to Maritimers and we both like
To party, but as soon as football comes into the equation I don't even want to be in the same room as them. I've never seen a collection of people in my life that moves to Calgary to better themselves that take pride in thrashing and ####ting on the city for two-three nights a year. It's very strange.

3rddown responds to Rod Pedersen's high pitched semi-hysterical rant by basically calling him an idiot, a homer and a liar.
http://3downnation.com/2016/08/16/pe...air-unfounded/
Quote:
edersen refers to Dunk’s reporting, and that of Post Media reporter Scott Mitchell, as “cavalier accusations” and offers this nugget in defence of that statement:“Rider President Craig Reynold’s assertion on Friday that no non-roster players were being paid aligns with what I knew of the situation.”
This would indicate that Pedersen knew the Riders were utilizing non-roster players in contravention of CFL rules but chose not to report that information. To assert Mitchell and Dunk, reporters working for competing news organizations in different locations would fabricate similar stories is laughable. Toronto Star reporter Chris O’Leary also tweeted that he’s heard similar reports about extra players being paid and housed. Even without other journalists corroborating Dunk’s report, his work is strong enough to stand on its own.
While I recognize Pedersen strives to maintain a close working relationship with the Saskatchewan organization and serve his pro-Rider fan-base, it is unfair to criticize those willing to provide more objective reporting. If Pedersen wants to rile up Rider Nation because it’s good for ratings, that’s fine, but he shouldn’t do so while questioning the integrity other members of the media.

I'm a bit late to the discussion, but Rider fans are acting like not showing up at other team's venues is a punishment?
Christ, most other CFL cities would view that as a community service.

Yup, I know it would make Edmonton and Calgary venues happy.
Rider fans are the under the impression that they carry the CFL financially which is a complete load of BS. They blow other teams away in merchandise sales (mostly because they are the only pro-sports merchandise available in Saskatchewan), but that mostly benefits them, and not the league as a whole.
There's only one two teams in the CFL that if they left would actually cause any amount of issues to other franchises and that's the Argos and the Ti-Cats. People in Sask. like to point and laugh at their attendance, but attendance doesn't mean much compare to tv deals, and without teams in the GTA, those tv deals go Bye Bye. Losing the Argos would likely mean the end of the CFL as we know it, and to a lesser extent, the Ti-Cats.

Its funny because Rider fans like to brag that they fill up half of McMahon, but I've never seen that, its a significant crowd, but its not an overwhelming one.
On top of that the majority of them already live in Calgary so its not like they're forming caravans of schools busses. And its funny because the week before you can see the same fans in the stands wearing Stampeder colors.
As it stands right now, there are a lot of empty seats at mosaic as the current Riders have replaced the F-Troop as the most inept franchise in CFL history winning 6 out of I think the last 35 games. They'll get a boost in the new Stadium, but it won't last forever, Rider fans are having flashbacks to the bad old days where they would avoid games because it was harvest season.

Lions/Ti Cats game outdrew the Riders/Stamps game in TV ratings. What's going on with all the Riders fans over the country that supposedly takes over every other CFL city? They aren't tuning into their favorite team on TV anymore. It appears the hyped has boiled over and things are getting back to normal. There was maybe 1000-1500 Riders fans last week at McMahon which is a far cry from about 5 years ago when there would be 5k+ at McMahon.

Not only do they pack our stadia but the Riders are the preferred free-agent destination. Don't you guys know that every player wants to play in Regina?
I think it's the opposite, that players will follow the money and the opportunity but please don't let it be Regina.

Bandwagoners, people just want to cheer for the cool team and get riled up over nothing. Unfortunately the Riders do have a pretty pathetic group of people who like to stir crap up. However, like you said the other day, the "real" Rider fans are as good as any other fans in the league, we just seem to have a stupid amount of idiots...

not to advertise my boards (ok, just a little). But we have some very good Rider fans that come out to it to discuss football. The more confrontational ones, that used to show up all the time have become very Oilers like and vanished.
There is a difference between the so called Rider Nation, and the Priders, the Priders are the terrible rude obnoxious fans that stir up trouble on the road and make a$$es out of themselves in their home park. You can usually find the Priders sitting behind the home team bench during road games and the road team bench at home games trying to engage and bait the players.
