Has to make it both I suppose.
Social media, etc. brings in potential leads much faster, I would imagine. Mind you, it might also mean they have to wade through so much more trivial information before finding something useful. I don't know...
but everyone wants to know everything instantaneously, and I expect that must create plenty of other challenges as well.

The number of man hours spent in these fields collectively between RCMP and CPS is staggering.

There certainly has been a lot of time and resources spent at and around the Garland property. I wonder if the elder Garlands (parents of Douglas, person of interest) will be of any help? It is my understanding that the parents are away from the property. I wonder if they know about the situation at their home?

Probably every nut, trouble maker and fake psychic calls in with clues or information that the police have to follow up.

It does seem like the cops are tracking in on something though.

This just feels like a body search now. I hope I'm wrong, but hope has to be fading.

i wonder how much stuff the CPS is holding back and currently not disclosing.

with all the efforts on these fields they must be finding some clues or something......

this whole event remains a candidate for a movie of the week....

Not really funny but I was thinking movie of the week this morning as I was reading the updated info.

Its sad that a 5 year old child is caught up in the middle of this.

Can we please let low-quality, unproductive posts fade into the obscurity where they belong? Some of us are drawn to updates in this thread for reasons other than quips and pilings-on of posts/posters that don't deserve the attention we are giving them.

Thanks.

With the exception of Rubecube's response, of course. That was the greatest first post after a suspension I've ever seen.

Great point. I have been following this thread since the beginning and it is kind of sad how much attention the guys speculating garbage are getting.

I think we all have a million theories in mind, but you can't just post everything you think on a public message board especially when it is a Calgary based message board and the missing are from Calgary. There is bound to be someone who is either in the family or knows the family reading this thread. I know if my grandparents were missing the last thing I would want to be reading is a bunch of theories that make them out to be kidnappers.

Hopefully the innocent people are spared and the guilty are punished.

A family member tells Global News Alvin (grandfather) and Douglas (person of interest) had a falling out several years ago after a business arrangement ended badly

Well then hopefully they aren't reading that websleuth forum link that was posted a couple pages back. Makes what's going on here seem rather tame. Definitely some ideas on that page I know I wouldn't want to read if I was family.

Here's hoping this all gets resolved soon. Such a heartbreaking story.

Websleuths has to be read with a critical eye.... everyone there posting is trying to pitch in but some of them let their imaginations get the better of them. They've produced more good information as a collective than any published news story, in part because the traditional channels aren't willing to publish anything without verification. If you can sort the right from the wrong, I suspect the Websleuths page is onto a similar storyline as the CPS/RCMP are... which doesn't make either right.

Either the CPS is being over-vigilant (like they were when the guy lined up in the courthouse last year when he had wires in his wallet), they're onto something, or they're being so careful as to not let anything slip by and making sure this guy wasn't involved--- given the resources they've put into the search, you have to think they must know the property is a crime scene.

Personally, I'm leaning towards the DG guy and AK having a failed business relationship involving others, and things coming to a head as AK and his wife are clearly leaving town. And that's speculation.

I hope that little boy is still alive. The only thing I'm sure of is he doesn't have anything to do with what has gone wrong.

Edit: and yeah, those grandparents don't have the best financial history. It could be related, maybe not, but worth discussing and worth tracking down in favour of saving them and that little boy. I don't care if they're being defamed, its not about that anymore, its about why they're missing.

The most odd thing about this centering on someone related to the family is that the CPS put out a request for help locating the green truck. One would think if it was someone related, even casually, to the family, the family would have been asked and would have said whose truck that was... someone within the family would have known given the age of the truck, it wasn't a new purchase in all liklihood... negating the need for a public notification given how secretive things are right now.

That post is kind of a mess. All I'm trying to say is, why give out a public plea for help with information that should have been within the family in the first place?

Do you know exactly what make, model and year every vehicle for every relative of yours is?

Especially this guy who took the identity of a Calgary boy that died many years ago.

public notification for any info of this truck driving around (maybe was in a remote location) would be helpful right now.
