If this is a Fata, my apologies:
http://bostonherald.com/sports/colle...ccess_academic
Is he going to leave Boston College and head for Calgary?
“There’s a good chance, yeah, definitely,” Gaudreau said. “But I still need to talk with my parents. My mom’s not real keen on the whole idea. She wants me to stay. My dad’s the complete opposite on this. But it’s a good decision to have.”

If Johnny Gaudreau is my son, I"m telling him exactly what his Mom is. Enjoy your Sr. yr at BC, get stronger. Pro hockey will be there.

Booooooooo. Obviously doesn't want to see him a Flame.

Didn't exactly expect a Oilers journalist to say "If i'm Johnny I sign with Calgary as soon as possible!"

Yeah I think Spector is secretly hoping he doesn't come out so that the Flames don't end up 2 years ahead of the Oilers in the rebuild.

Spector is a tool. Pro hockey will be there but his chances of playing in it can diminish if he suffers a major injury.

From Wes Gilbertson's Gaudreau article in response:
Quote:
A link to the Times feature on the Gaudreau family was posted Wednesday morning on calgarypuck.com, a popular discussion site for Flames fans, and there were 284 comments -- 15 pages worth -- within the first 24 hours. By contrast, a thread on a 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks the same day generated about 50 responses.

Couldn't help but lol at this. But thank goodness that desperation thread didn't surface for long..

Yeah. The irony in his tweet is that pro hockey careers are extremely short, and time is critical right now for Gaudreau at his age in terms of his athletic development; his education will be available and waiting at any time until he dies.
Bizarre comment.

Spector is a tool.
But Buccigross, whom I do respect, offers the same sort of media opinion:

Johnny Gaudreau's mom wants him to return to Boston College for his senior season. That wouldn't be a terrible idea

Well, respected or not, if its a hockey opinion, its dead wrong. I have watched two BC games this year. Its blatantly obvious, even from watching a couple of shifts, that John Gaudreau is playing at a whole other level. Setting aside the risk of injury, it would amount to wasting an entire season of his career in a league he has long since surpassed in talent level. It would be comparable to Sid Crosby staying in Junior for his 20 year old year. (No...I'm not saying JG is as good as Crosby)

Well I personally think Buccigross and his whole #cawlidgehawkey is a tool as well so it makes sense that they both have the same opinion.

That's exactly it ^
Even Johnny himself has acknowledged that staying another year would do nothing for him as a hockey player, the only noted advantage would be that he could bulk up in the weight room.
If he really is already a few classes ahead into his last semester of schooling, there wouldn't be much reason to sit around Boston full time with gaps in your schedule. Completing in the offseason (as he also mentioned) would be very doable.

Good call! There's nobody in the league better at that role than Big Ern. He's great in the room and on the bench... He's awesome with the young guys and he works hard every night. Guys like Gaudreau feel 6' tall with a guy like McGrattan watching their back.

I also heard from someone I know that he joined Monahan for a hot yoga session at a place off 17th last week (true story). Obviously bonds well with the kids on AND off the ice.
