Not a great period but the Flames are still in it. I want Feaster to get on the phone and find new addresses for three players. Butler, Jackman and MacDonald can all be sold off for whatever the team can get.

There's no way that Hartley can rationalize keeping Jackman and Butler staying in the lineup, they are absolutely atrocious.

First period was both impressive (5-minute PK) and infuriating (everything else).

Not a great period. Thanks to Stempniak and the ref we managed to get by with only a 1 goal deficit despite Butler and Jackman.
If Hartley doesn't bench these 2 guys I don't know what to believe in.

With Jackman and Street out, the healthy forwards are going to be busy. It will be good to see how Monahan handles it.

Well after a shakey start they played a little better in the 2nd half. The PK looks much improved and I like the aggression. 2 goal on Joey were in on just about any goaltender, so let's not get on him. Not that he's played that great either.
Butler...'nuff said, but SOB has been equally as bad.
Jackman...sigh...sorry bud, your time with the Flames is quickly drawing to a close. If there weren't any injuries I think you'd be sent down to Abbotsford.
I thought Joe Colborne had a nice period and his -1 is due directly to Butler's turnover at his own blue line. He created some offense and was more physical, and did pretty well in his own zone too.
Baertschi has been fantastic in his own zone so far tonight.
Stempniak is our MVP so far...maybe Giordano as well.

Yes, exact same feeling.

My first period takes
- Stemp 100% at fault on the first goal from the start where he replaced a pinching D man and then pinched himself leaving 1 person back. Then didnt backcheck hard enough on his man
- Butler with a bad bounce (we love to tear into him but really was a bad bounce and great shot)
- Some good chances, Stemp and Colborne with breakaways!
- Jackman can be sent on waivers after proving in 1 period why McG is the better enforcer.
- Great PK....enough said!

If Shanahan wants to suspend Jackman the rest of the year I'd be ok with it.

Honest question. Is there a worst defensive pairing in the entire NHL than SOB-Butler?

I thought Joe Colborne had a nice period - strong in both ends - he stood out the most to me that period

Not a lot of Monarail or Sven that period (besides serving the penalty).

First goal was on Stemp and his pathetic back check on Penner. Second goal was Butler being Butler. And then there in the idiot known as Jackman.
Stemp at least made up for his lazy play with a shorty. Butler can't make up for his being Butler because, well, he's Butler.
Flames still somewhat in the game and should, in theory, have some momentum going into the second.

Is no one entertaining the possibility that Jackman did that for a reason? Is he known for randomly attacking players for no reason?

I appreciate you need veteran presence, but guys like Stempniak and Hudler are that presence, not Butler, Jackman and MacDonald. I'd much rather see Horak, Hanowski, Knight, Breen, Sieloff, Wotherspoon, and Berra get their chance with the big club.
