Sorry your wrong, its more than just goaltending. Takes a whole team effort to keep the puck out of your own zone and net.

The Flames have a worse roster and are playing JOEY MACDONALD and manage to win games... I'm confident its not just the goalie that's the trouble.

The Oilers have the edge in top end talent but that's it. Their roster is atrocious otherwise. And, as pointed out, their "top-end talent" isn't exactly helping them win hockey games at the moment.

Flames are the better "TEAM" at this time.
Greasers have a bunch of players.

Circular cause and consequence, really. Dubnyk and Labarbara look terrible because of the team in front of them, and the team in front of them looks terrible in part because of the goaltending.

Edmonton is 1-5-1 for a reason, and is extremely lucky not to be 0-7-0.

That's the spirit - it'll all come together soon.

I am sure that the next quick fix will be the right one.

I still remember when it was MacTabish holding them back and "once we get a new coach we'll be great."

Awesome to see Pilers fans have identified that one problem with their team that once it is changed great things will happen.

Always funny to see how blind fans are to the flaws in their team and how much they try and make it out like one quick fix will solve all the problems.

The Flames have some vets who are far better than the vets the Oilers are rolling out there. Glencross, Hudler, Stempniak, Stajan, (Cammalleri when he plays), Giordano, Wideman are all pretty respectable players.

The Oilers top-end guys are still better than the Flames top guys. The Oilers just have no depth. And that D is just brutal.

Biggest issue is the defence.

Schultz X 2, Ference, Smid, Belov, and Petry is not a good d-corps.

They have no top pairing d-men, and on good teams their defense are all 4/5/6 guys at best.

Then consider that their offensive players are not committed in their own zone, and you have the issue.

Look at Belov's defensive effort, and how Schultz decided it was a good time to pinch when RNH is getting harrassed at the blueline.

They are the black knight from Monty Python. They seriously don't know how bad it is.

I really do not get the media love for Schultz. He makes some really bad decisions on a pretty regular basis. Even Boomer and Pinder were saying he's a top pairing guy (potentially).

The media is slowly starting to turn on the oilers. During a highlight package last night for a different game, they showed a Colorado player back check from a forward that prevented a goal. They commented that the oilers could learn a thing or two watching that.

The oilers defense reminds me of the clip from waterboy where the other team gets the ball and starts to run it back, but they drop it and have time to pick it up and dust it off before they go in for the touchdown. It's kind of a joke and I think Butler would actually make their team better! lol

Justin? Because he is an offensive defenceman. We were little different when Phaneuf was here. If Dion scored a goal or had a big hit, he had a great defensive game in the minds of many. But if he did neither, his defence was terrible.

As far as Yakupov goes, it isn't up on his blog yet, so far that I can see, but Lyle Richardson is apparently promoting a "Miller and Vanek for Yakupov +" rumour. I'm not sure where he's getting it from, but MacTavish dealing for two pending UFAs would be pretty much the perfect end to the Yakupov debacle.

That plus better be a first rounder for Buffalo.

No matter how good of a prospect Yakupov is or Oiler fans think he is. His style of game and his comments plus Edmonton's desparation reduces his value.

Edmonton shouldn't be trading for UFA's since there's no way that they'll sign with Edmonton unless they're getting 10 million dollar contracts.

Grigerenko and Yakupov are good friends are they not?

Could be a good ploy to try and get them together if you can, might limit the concern of them heading back to the KHL.

If the Sabres make that trade they would have completed a sneaky re-build, as they have pretty good youth across the organization. The folowing are all decent players under the age of 25.

C: Hodgson, Grigerenko, Girgensons, Compher, Catenacci
W: Armia, Larsson, Ennis, Foligno
D: Myers, McBain, Ristolainen, Pysyk, Zadorov, McCabe, McNabb
G: Enroth, Hackett

Add Yakupov to that group and you have a pretty dynamic young team. Especially if they do blow it up and add another top 10 pick in this draft.

C'mon guys, the Oil are on the verge of righting the ship...

“I remember playing Columbus last year at about the 20-game mark and they were a team that was well below .500 but you could tell they were a team that was playing well and about to make a charge,” said winger Taylor Hall.

“I feel like we’re on that verge. We’re sticking with teams that have a lot of skill and we’re working just as hard as them. I have a different feel with this group.”
