Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg 15s Unlikely Cammalleri will play any more preseason games. He's nursing a hand injury. No word on severity. #Flames

I think youre missing my point and no .... Of course hes got alot to learn.
Im more wondering if management is seeing him progress to the point where they feel goin back to the W will stall his progress as hes physicly mature to be playing against men.
I have no doubt I will get to see him play in Victoria this season, the question us when.

Hopefully it's not a huge concern. Pretty much just saying he's unlikely to play in the Phoenix game at this point. And considering I think he has a pretty good chance to make the team, it's hopefully just a precaution.

I think the more time a guy like Kanzig can spend around pros the better it is at this point in his development. For someone that raw who has to dedicate atremendous amount of off ice time to train, witnessing what a guy like Cammallerri does day in and out is worth more than any preseason game.
Multiply it by 10 with a guy who has high hockey and personal IQ.

Maybe, but wouldn't they want to see the youngsters play instead to see if they can handle it?
My guess is to see if Russel can handle top 4. If he can't they will be looking to make a trade for someone that can.

Feaster alluded to this too. He also said that keeping him up will also give him confidence to dominate at the lower levels. I hate to use the word swagger, but I don't know what else would apply.

Stall his progress?
He is weak defensively in the WHL he needs to go there to learn how not to be a pylon at the lower levels.
Maybe if they want him as a goon and only goon it makes sense to have him leave juniors but if they have any plans for him to play in the NHL as a defenseman they need him to spend a lot if time in juniors learning how to play.

Plus it seems the Flames encourage having young guys up making a little extra money. I am sure it helps them get a head start, and gives them a taste of whats at stake.

I'm with Moon here, Kanzig is a giant pylon. The size-fetish and attention being given to this guy is astonishing. If our other prospects like a Wotherspoon got the same amount of special treatment and credit Kanzig gets from the org more or less just for being large, they might have the confidence to be NHL-ready right now

Pylon in the WHL? Maybe you are talking about a different prospect??
Kanzig had a rough first year in the WHL, but became a top pairing defender in his second year.

Proof of Kanzig’s contention could come in the fact he was named to Team Pacific — a squad made up of players from Alberta and B.C. — for the World Under-17 Challenge during the 2012 Christmas season.
It’s not like a blueliner was added to that team if he was just a thug

A huge defenceman," Button said that night at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., "but the first thing we noticed about him? We thought he understood the game very well and that he had high character, high intangibles. Off the ice leadership. On the ice leadership. He's a great teammate. For us, it was an area we talked about - getting rough and tumble on the back-end - but he's got a good brain, too.

Kanzig’s style is very one-dimensional. He is a beast in the defensive zone, but makes little to no impact outside his own blueline
|
Someone that is called a 'beast defensively' by a notable amateur scouting service does not equate with your term of 'plyon'. He looked even better than most here anticipated him to look throughout his rookie camp, prospect camp and even in the pre-season. For a defencemen just drafted out of the CHL months ago, he looked pretty damn impressive. Mistakes thus far? You bet! But a pylon? Seriously?

Couple of updates today:
Quote:
“Bob has made it clear to me, depending on how the young guys play, that’s where I’ll play,” Galiardi said. “If one of them plays really well and he’s a left winger, I’ll play centre. I think even to this point, they’re not even sure what they’re going to do.
“These last two games are very important for them.”
|
Quote:
But for Horak actually these last two games are crucial. Seeing the young talent around him, the Czech native understands time is ticking.
“It’s my third year, right? I have to make the team right now,” said the 22-year-old centreman who has split the last two professional seasons between the Flames and the Abbotsford Heat.
“If I don’t ... it’s one of my last shots. Basically, I’m going to do whatever it takes. I see there’s a spot at centre and we have a lot of young guys and there are a lot of great players.
“I’m going to do my best and we’ll see.”

Over the weekend, the Calgary Flames’ resident tough guy was consulted by Keegan Kanzig, the Victoria Royals’ resident tough guy and a roster hopeful only months after being drafted on what it’s like to toss punches in the National Hockey League.
A smart idea considering McGrattan has a deep resume and, well, loves his job.
“I’ve seen a couple of his fights before and he has quite the reputation,” said Kanzig, chuckling, following Sunday afternoon’s skate at WinSport arena. “That’s why I approached him and I want to learn from the best. I’m focusing on every part of my game, making sure I’m good defensively and that I make a good first pass and contributing how I can all over the ice.
|
Quote:
“That’s huge being 18 and surviving your first cut,” said the 32-year-old who, along with 33-year-old veteran goalie Joey MacDonald are the two oldest players in the dressing room. “Just goes to show he has the drive and wants to be here. Obviously, the organization sees big things for him. With his size and strength, he’s miles ahead of a lot of other guys his age.
“If he works on his game and conditioning, I don’t see why he can be in the NHL in two or three years.”
|
Quote:
Hartley said Monday’s lineup will also be more reflective of what’s to come when their regular season kicks off Oct. 3 in Washington.
“They’re in a final exam period,” he said. “Now, it’s going to start to look like NHL games. There are some kids that are on the bubble, (Max) Reinhart, (Michael) Ferland. They better study all night because (Monday) is a big exam.”

The guy you respond too is overrating Kanzig and you respond to him by underrating Kanzig.
He's not an nhler but he's no whl pylon either. I'm just asking for sanity here. You have a habit of stretching the truth just as much as the worst homers but in the other direction. It tends to stir up a lot of #### and it gets old after a while.

I am saying what I have seen of him. He has the potential to get better but right now he is brutal defensively.
