I've heard that an individuals join date on CP reflects one's fashion sense.

I would much prefer the current 3rd jersey as the full time home setup. There are a lot of things that I prefer about the retro vs the "new" jerseys, but the biggest for me is the font difference. The current home jersey has that italicized font that just screams NASCAR, whereas the retro has the big block numbers that just look so much better on a hockey jersey.

This is the main reason why I am pro flag. I also like how the blue contrasts the red of the jersey. We do need to lose the piping and pant stripes though.

How is that a good thing? It would be different if the blue was somehow incorporated in, but as is it's just a blue rectangle slapped on the shoulder. It doesn't fit in at all, it looks like a decal on the side of a nascar.

Just googling around and found this:
Highly doubt they want to go back to a horse head/black type jersey but it is better than the flaming snot. One small thing I've always been in favor of is secondary logos. I liked that if the flaming C wasn't the main logo, it was used as a shoulder patch. Anything that gets rid of those stupid flags.
Edit: logo link doesn't appear to be working. Check out http://www.icethetics.info/nhltol/tag/flames. (They also have a few concept jerseys for other teams as well).

No new logos. please no new logos. Theres a reason the jersey's considered to be the best have had no or very little alterations to their coloring or logos. I believe the Flaming C is an iconic logo (and I have seen at least a few polls that rank it as one of the best in sports), so why are we messing with it? Just keep the damn old jersey! Mess with 3rds all you want, but the main jerseys should remain as the vintage ones are now.
And I was born in '89, so I really have no emotional attachment to them at all. They just look way way way better. Its not even close.

Yeah, it sort of does. Kind of reminds you of those horrible European uniforms with advertising plastered all over them.
This clearly is the aesthetic of the future. Nothing looks better than to have every inch of a player's body covered with commercial graffiti, in as many unrelated styles and colours as possible — including tattoos on the visible parts of his body. Hell, you could sell ads on a player's grill, if hockey players had teeth.

The word you are looking for is 'clashes'. Blue and red clash when placed side by side. This has been against the laws of heraldry for around 1,000 years. Which means that people in the Dark Ages who knew nothing about nothing, still knew that putting blue next to red is a lousy idea.
However, I agree about the piping and pant stripes. I forget who it was on CP that said the result looks like the Bavarian bobsled team, but I agree with that 100%.
Between the diagonal stripes ('podium' for the C) in the early 1990s, the Flaming Snot Horse in the late 90's, and the Bavarian Bobsled Team vertical stripes of the 2000's, the Flames have shown some of the worst aesthetic sense ever seen in the NHL. Yeah, the Islanders had those horrible Gorton's Fisherman jerseys with the wavy stripes and distorted lettering, but they learned their lesson and got rid of them fast. The Flames never seem to learn. They can't even be ugly in an original way.

I think it made for a decent shoulder patch. Not so much the main crest.

According to the rules of heraldry (and vexillology), stripes don't count. If the American flag had a solid red field instead of red and white stripes, it would be breaking the rules. If the Flames' uniforms had red and white stripes instead of a solid red jersey, they would be obeying the rules (and would be unspeakably ugly).

I liked the black jerseys but wasn't into the horse logo.
Keep the flaming C & make a black jersey based around the 2004-era colour scheme.
Blue & red clash (unless you're Superman).
Black & red looks pimpin.
