Joe Flacco sure sounds selfish like Drew Brees...
Quote:
Linta says Flacco, 28, doesn't wish to weaken the roster with a new contract.
"Joe's not that kind of guy," Linta says. "Joe absolutely wants to work with the Ravens to ensure that they're not impacted cap-wise. Joe doesn't want to see anybody get cut as a result of this deal."
|
It makes me laugh for anybody to say he is looking for Drew Brees type money, as its been pretty clear to anybody who has been following this whole saga that Joe Linta is the one trying to milk out every dollar/cent outta of the Ravens he can and not his client.

Jay Glazer says Alex Smith to the Chiefs is done. We've heard him being traded has been done for a few days now, so grain of salt here.

I LIKE IT!
For as much crap as Alex Smith has taken over his career, to see him turn it around and always be a great teammate was a pleasure. He is a consummate pro.
The Chiefs better protect him. I'm not sure what the o-line is like, but Smith will take sacks if he isn't comfortable with the reads. If he doesn't trust the line he will rush his reads so they won't be open yet and too many sacks will happen. But with an offensive, QB savvy head coach I'm sure he will be fine.
The 49ers now have 15 picks in this draft including 5 in the first 3 rounds. Plus they expect another compensation pick for losing Josh Morgan in free agency last year. That, plus the additional cap space from moving A Smith, should allow them to remain competitive for the near future.

Wow that is alot, considering it's basically a late first rounder. I would of preferred Nick Foles, and he might of been had for a 3rd.

Seems like a high pick to give up but the Chiefs are likely going nowhere by using that pick and going into the future with garbage at QB so likely makes sense for them.
That Niners team could get a pretty good player there and likely fill a need (receiver?) as well so great return for them.

Perhaps, more likely they will work on their D-line or secondary.
2 of their top 3 receivers were on IR last year and they are expecting their first rounder from last year, AJ Jenkins, to step up next year. I'm sure they will grab a WR or two but don't expect them to reach for one.
Safety is a concern as Donte Whitner(SS) got beat a lot later in the season and they are in difficult contract negotiations with Goldson(FS) who is currently wearing the franchise tag but who wants a longer term contract.

Lifelong Wisconsin resident Brad Sauve has been waiting nearly 37 years to receive a letter from the Green Bay Packers, and it finally arrived last month.
Sauve, a resident of Spring Valley in the western part of the state, signed up for Packers season tickets in 1976, and his name finally rose to the top of pro football’s most coveted list.
But with the long wait comes a steep price. Sauve must cough up $5,390 for the privilege of owning two season tickets this year in Section 128 in the southwest corner of Lambeau Field between the end zone and 20-yard line.
That cost includes a one-time $4,200 user fee for two bench seats, plus another $1,190 for the seven-game green package.
Sauve didn’t think twice about shelling out the money, considering there are 105,000 names below him on the season ticket waiting list.

What is a "seven-game green package"?
He finally gets to the top of the waiting list and he only gets to see 7 of the 8 home games? Or is this a legacy of when they used to play games in Milwaukee?

I think the Chiefs gave up too much for Alex Smith here. This draft has a lot of depth, so that pick could be as good as their top pick in terms of the player available. Than again, with it looking to be a weak QB crop in the draft, and the free agent market being very thin, it probably did drive the market price up for Smith.
Pretty much seals Luke Joeckel as the top pick.

Vontae Davis of the Colts just tweeted that he saw Sean Smith last night and he said he was talking to the Chiefs. He has since deleted the tweet and blamed it on hackers but the NFL will look into potential tampering charges against the Chiefs won't they?

Alex Smith is just following in the footsteps of Joe Montana, Steve DeBerg, Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac.
You may want to get your Chiefs Kaepernick jersey right now!

Well at least those old 49'er cast offs did win quite a few games for the Chiefs, so why not go back to that well.

Good deal for the Niners, they probably would have cut Smith otherwise.

You are correct, sir!

Green & Gold Package SchedulingA preset formula assigns the Gold Package (former Milwaukee ticket holders) the preseason "Shrine" game, and games 2 and 5 of the regular season home schedule. The Green Package (original Lambeau Field ticket holders) receives the preseason "Bishop's Charities/Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption" game and games 1,3,4,6,7 & 8 of the regular season home schedule. The NFL determines the date, time and opponent of the games in the spring of each year.

The Tennessee Titans running back, coming off a 1,243-yard season in 2012, was asked on ESPN's "NFL Live" on Wednesday if he or the Minnesota Vikings' Peterson, who threatened the all-time rushing record with his 2,097 yards, would have more rushing yards next season.
"Of course, '2K," Johnson said, referring to his nickname -- CJ2K -- which he received after rushing for 2,006 yards in 2009.
When asked how confident he felt about his answer, he said he was "very confident."
"I've always been a confident guy ... if you want something to happen you have to speak on it it, you have to believe in it. You just got to pray and God will lead you there. I know the type of guy that I am, the type of back that I am and if the situation is right I know I can do it," he said.
