Actually I could have posted this earlier. Chelsea sent me an email yesterday letting me know since I'm on the Caterpillar list to contact them after if I buy one so they can take my name off of it.

What's the sale price? I checked my RSI link, is it in the latest Wingman's Hanger video or something?

Yup. It is live right now on Twitch.tv. Not sure what the sale price will be but he teased it going on sale today.

I assume it will be the same as previous ($225).
By "sale", I just mean it will be available to pledge for again.

What's the big draw about the Caterpillar vs the Freelancer?
All I want for Christmas is an Idris-P Corvette. I'd have to spend $5000 to get one though, in the Space Marshal package.

Caterpillar is just another tool in a dedicated Pirates box. Instead of a Freelancer full of cargo, a Caterpillar is a clowncar full of dudes in Mk. VII power armor ready to bust skulls on a Capital ship.

Uh... yeah...
So...
The Caterpillar went on sale again... RSI website overloaded (can't log in)... and the game raised $47,095 in 60 minutes.

Star Citizen has made over $100k since the Caterpillar went on sale again at 11 AM mountain time today. (About 260 minutes)

And very little change in the total number of backers, so that's a lot of extra money being dropped by people who have already backed the game

Absolutely, thanks for mentioning this. The change in the number of backers is typical for a much slower period. The money is being spent by people who already are backers.

I swore to myself that after buying a Freelancer and Hornet that I wouldn't spend anymore money on this game, a couple hundred bucks for a game still a year and a half from release is enough. But I just know that if they release Hornet and/or Freelancer variants I'll cave

I kind of want to melt my civilian Hornet as it doesn't come with the ball turret but rather cargo space.
I don't need cargo space, I have a Starfarer!

So ya, guess you could say the sale was successful
Also it looks like the sale has drawn new people in, available beta slots dropped by over 1000 today

What's your best guess for when these beta slots will sell out?

In the last 10 days the beta slots dropped by 4250, for an average of more than 400 a day. With just under 20,000 left you're probably looking at them running out within a couple of months. It's almost guaranteed that they'll be gone before the dogfighting module launches in December, people will want to get in so they can participate
I imagine there'll be a mad dash to the end once it hits a certain threshold (maybe under 10,000?) and you'll see the final slots drop to nothing in a couple of days

Keep in mind these are just Alpha slots. Beta slots will likely be available after the Alphas run out, but there will probably be a noticeable time gap between the dogfighting module and the first beta release.

Just FYI for those who didn't know, there was a big patch for the hangar module yesterday. Has TONS of fixes including:
UPDATED - Updated something
BUG FIX - finally found the stupid registry bug that was causing massive headaches as well as added a check so the installer will tell you if the product is already installed.
BUG FIX - adding the wav file back since ogg is boned, and adding in some console logging to help with debugging launcher issues.
Constellation: Beds now open/close. Bathroom now opens. Shower door now opens. You can also take a seat on the toilet. The table in the main area can be deployed and retracted.

Yeah it has been hugely successful... They are on pace for almost a $200k day today as well.
Edit: and they did... 203k.
Even assuming Sunday and Monday are more like $100k, the campaign should be a little over $19.8 million by Monday evening, which would put them in prime position to hit $20 million before the end of the month without much issue.
