We've had legalized gay marriage in Canada since 2005. Part of the law stipulated that it applied only to the issuing of government marriage licenses and that no religious organizations would be forced to perform wedding ceremonies for homosexual couples if it went against the beliefs of their religion. Has this system not worked to your satisfaction?

The certainty is not there. It is something you read into it.

If you don't want to participate, then don't. But don't tell everyone how bad they are and then refuse to explain yourself.

Or if you do, what is the moderator to do then with the resulting mess that that surely will cause? You've successfully derailed the thread from talking about the subject, to talking about you.

No. I just don't want to. I find it hard to take internet criticisms like that easily, and I simply don't want to have to deal with that for the rest of the day.

I do respect your wish to not get into a trolling match here, that said though all any law anywhere that recognises gay marriage anywhere or is being proposed anywhere allows church's to refuse to marry gays, in fact churches routinely refuse to marry all sorts of people gay or otherwise and always have done, I cannot get married in a catholic church to man women or choir boy.

How about we just ban all marriage so this discussion becomes irrelevant? If no one can do it, then it'd be equal right? Marriage is useless anyways, its just a piece of paper. I don't need a piece of paper to tell me I love someone and want to be with them forever, I need my heart for that.

That was not my intent. My intent was to point out certain things that did not seem to occur to some people here, and avoid derailing the thread, but it appears that did not happen.

My error was in replying. I should not have.

Silver please don't put that in your sig. It's too big, and I'm sure everyone has a series of posts that isn't their best work.

So, you're emotionally unequipped to deal with the notion that someone may be critical of your stance or even deem it to be wrong. Try to deal with the concept of "being wrong" and learn how to let people have their own opinion of your stated opinions. Otherwise, you're just trolling.

Your error is in refusing to back up why you feel the way you do. Don't say something you know people will disagree with if you don't plan on backing it up.

No your error was in stating the equivalence between bigots hating gays, and rational people hating bigots.

Your other error was stating outright that allowing gay marriage was wrong and then categoricially denying to give any reason as to why you think that way.

Guys, give Knalus a break, he has been polite and I doubt he is trolling, this is after all an issue of belief, I suspect he is probably not wholly comfortable defending his own position, that is a good thing.

You made a claim that "allowing gays to marry isn't right" but didn't provide any explanation about why you feel that way. If your intent was to point out certain things that did not seem to occur to some people here, you were not successful. Unless you can elaborate further on why you think allowing gay marriage isn't right, readers in this thread will have no idea what insight you're trying to point out.

It's not about telling you who you love. It's more of a financial, estate and custody matter.
