The French played an awesome game, really stepped up, All Blacks sucked this time out...likely should have lost that one.

Here's hoping this result provides the false confidence the French need to set the program back a couple WC's.
Losing two group matches, only winning the other 2 in the last 20 minutes, and the semi final win, this team had no business being anywhere near the final.

What a great final!
Hats off to the French. The unthinkable looked on for most of the second half when they had the ABs on the ropes.

Except they were the only team that challenged NZ?

Not a big fan of the French team but I thought it was awesome how they walked up when NZ was doing the Haka. It reminded me of when NZ used to walk forward as they were doing it and end up nose to nose with the opposition team at half. Intense.
Great game by France, they defended wonderfully. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire game.

Glad that the All Blacks came out on top would have liked more of a whipping. Can't stand the French squad. Was it just me or did the All Blacks seem slower and battered from that blood fest vs Australia.
Having said that France still put up a stingy Defensive game and easily could have won.
Part of the reason I would like to see the World Cup go to 2 weeks rest for the final. Just so the countries are at their best for the Cup match.

To be honest with you, I want to give France credit for standing up to the Haka, but I just cant.
Quite frankly, they looked as though they were on the verge of performing a marginally homo-erotic softcore version of Coach Bombay's 'Flying V.'
Holding hands in a 'V' formation and fearfully inching your way closer to the NZ team isnt the equivalent of having a sack and actually standing up to them.

I thought that France played very well. While heading into the game I didn't think that they had played well enough to deserve to have a spot in the final they definitely responded when they had to.
They really took it to NZ and were great opponents. The history between the two sides made for an exciting match as well and I definitely enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong, I still hate the French for mailing it in against Tonga and costing us third place in the pool, but that doesn't take away from this win.
NZ just didn't have much in terms of attacking flair and creativity from my vantage point. I was a little surprised that Sonny Bill Williams sat to start the match. He had been great to watch earlier in the tournament and was running hard and drawing in defenders to create an overlap for others. Granted that was against some of the lesser nations, but even so.
The one thing that I can also point to with a bit of pride for Canada is that we played both finalists and showed well against them. We kept it close for the most part against the French and that shows that there is some parity in international rugby these days.
On a completely other tangent one of my friends was there for the RWC and was shown on the broadcast. Normally that would be a "who cares" type of thing say at a Flames game, but that was pretty wicked watching the final and seeing him there!

Must have been an amazing atmosphere in the stadium. The national anthem alone would send shivers up ones body.

I totally agree. It was hilarious watching them inch up to the line, practically tip-toeing their way there. Weak.

A definite brag on the kid post but my son is heading out to represent Canada. http://www.rugbycanada.ca/leagues/ne...d=0&page=57817
Two players from Alberta selected.
Should be a great experience and they will be in for some very tough games but this is exactly what they need to be doing to improve the program. U19 is a new addition as they felt the gap was too big between U17 and U20.
