Report out of Russia (which can be highly unreliable) is that KHL team Metallurg Magnitogorsk is in contract negotiations with Zagidulin:

Zagidulin is a RFA with arbitration rights though? Does that mean the Flames are letting him walk?

Not necessarily.
Could mean that Zag wants a KHL offer in his back pocket to help strengthen his position in contract negotiations.
Could also mean that he wants to go back to Russia.
Could just be the Russian team kicking tires on him.
If the Flames give him a QO and he signs with the KHL, they will hold his NHL rights until he turns 27.

Gillies is a Group 6 UFA
If Zag and Talbot leave the Flames goalie depth goes from good to bad

They have exactly two goalies I'd trust to give NHL games to. That's down to one if Talbot walks. Depth isn't particularly good.

It will be interesting to see how our goaltending depth shakes out next season.
Rittich and Parsons are the only 2 we know are coming back for sure. Wolf will be back in junior so we will have some decisions to make to fill out the rest of the spots.
I don’t see Schneider or Gillies coming back.

Parsons needs full time in the A next year so either way one of Zag or Gillies wasnt coming back. Hoping for a Parsons/Zag combo next season.

We don't know for sure on Parsons either, he is a RFA and hasn't had the best pro career to date. I would qualify him personally, but it is certainly not a guarantee.
If Zags doesn't return, I won't lose any sleep, he can replaced by any number of UFA goaltenders, such as Anton Forsberg, Alex, Lyon, Garrett Sparks, Maxime Lagace, Oscar Dansk.... etc

I suppose you are right, even though it would be absolutely crazy to only retain one goalie out of the logjam we’ve had over the last few years it is entirely possible none of the RFAs return.
I personally hope Parsons and Zagidulin are re-signed and tandem next year in Stockton as I think they can still develop into NHLers. Wolf isn’t ready for the AHL yet so it’s best to have the crease filled with guys we want to develop.

You're right, but the reason Zags was brought in was that he has star potential, despite being a very raw prospect. I would be bummed if we lost him before we got to see what he actually has.

Heat snag a college free agent. A right shooting d-man
Mike McMahon
@MikeMcMahonCHN
Clarkson D Greg Moro is signing a 2-year deal with the Stockton Heat (AHL). Big Edmonton native appeared in 147 games over his 4-year career. Rare for players to get a second year on an AHL deal. Stockton is Calgary’s affiliate.

Humboldt Bronco alumn.
A concerted organizational effort to bolster/rebuild the Stockton blueline. Perhaps with a good season, Moro's contract could bump up to a standard deal?

Yelesin
Lerby
Mackey
Poolman
Now these three kids.
That's a wholesale change.
I'm sure they'll bring in a steady AHL vet if Valiev and Neilsen aren't kept on.

Moro attended Blue Jackets Development camp in 2019.
Noah king attended Devils Rookie camp in 2019.
Doesn't look like Wilson has been to a development camp before.
LHD (Age at 2020 Camp)
Valimaki, Jusso (22)
Lerby, Carl-Johan (23)
Poolman, Colton (24)
Mackey, Connor (24)
*King, Noah (21)
RHD (Age)
Yelesin, Alexander (24)
*Moro, Greg (25)
*Wilson, Koletrane (21)
UFA
Valiev, Rinat (25)
RFA
Nielsen, Andrew (24)
*AHL Deal only
As it sits right now only Yelesin (pushing for an NHL job) has 38 games of AHL experience and Valimaki (will likely spend a month down there to get his feet again) 20 games at AHL. I wouldn't be surprised if Nielsen and Valiev are brought back plus other AHL vet signings.
The only thing is that guys they are signing are physically mature and around 23-24 years old, and have experience playing against men.

I would be shocked if Nielsen is qualified. I'm 50/50 on Valiev.
