I'm definitely not doing a good job of explaining it, so I'll try to dig up the video.

I was watching this video the other day from riding coach. This isn't meant to pick on Shanahan or McVey who are both clearly competent coaches, but listen to the way they describe how they (and Lafleur) got their chances.
Granfather, Father, calls, connections. I think this is what Rube is saying. There's an old boys club, that's largely made up of white people and generations of white people. The Rooney Rule is meant to force teams to look outside of that club and interview black candidates. Rooney himself said that they weren't even really looking at Tomlin but he blew them away in the interview.
Flores is a good coach. He deserves better than this and he's probably going to get blackballed for the lawsuit but unless people unearth this, the league will continue overlooking minority candidates.

I agree with this.
I'm curious though. Cal McNair is not qualified to run a business and his lack of intellect is widely known around town. But how did you conclude he was the one explicit racist out of all NFL owners?

If Gase gets three HC jobs then the GOAT debate is over, Peyton comes from behind to steal it.

He was - Gase would try and say something in a meeting, Peyton would go “shut the #### up, Adam”, Gase would whisper “sorry, Sheriff” and not be heard from the rest of the day.

I think it would be a far greater shock if Bob McNair’s son wasn’t racist.

That’s a pretty heavy accusation.
Here is a relatively balanced article by a writer I really respect. You can apply whatever labels you like though and you may even be right. I don’t really know.

According to a league source, the Packers will be hiring former Raiders coach Rich Bisaccia as their new special teams coordinator.
Deal is not finalized but is expected to be done.

Late to the punch here. But I feel like Flores is taking things out on Miami. 100 percent there is an issue within the NFL in regards to the lack of Black coaches. But the problem here isn't that he was racially discriminated against in the Giants selection or in Miami. It's the Rooney rule, which personally I think does more harm than good as it tokenizes Black coaches. If the Giants had their heart set on a guy, they still have to interview a black coach due to the rule. And it's such bull#### that a guy like Flores has to interview for a job he's not going to get due to this. Now in regards to the paying to lose stuff. That's legit. And I hope the league really looks into that (but I doubt it). In regards to the Giants though I don't see what they did wrong. If the guy they wanted is white they have to throw a token interview in. It's not up to them.
Now what makes things hard is that I don't know what the answer is. Hopefully throughout the upcoming years as some of these dinosaurs retire and old crusty owners die-off we get some new blood in with fresh perspectives. But what I do know is I think the Rooney rule does more harm than good and it shows in the results when the number of black coaches has gone down since it was implemented. When during that time the social viewpoints in society as a whole have progressed a lot since then. Things are broken. But it's a complicated way to fix it.
