I watched two of the Edmonton Hockey Club's games so far and he looks like trash. Barely an NHLer.

Skating horrible, vision horrible, positioning horrible. I heard he has a good shot, but he never gets the puck so I've never seen it.

It's glorious. Another poster said it earlier; I actually love the Edmonton Hockey Club. They provide so much Schadenfreude that it's actually fun to follow them.

Admittedly, I have not watched a lot of the Oilers this season but from what I have seen, he appears just as lost out there as he was in the past. A lot of skating around not knowing what to do or where to go.

Benching of Bear & Jones isn't shocking or unexpected, it's part of their learning curve. It's also the case that Edmonton is now carrying plenty of useful d-men, and it's good for them to get into the odd game. Lagesson and Russell are both capable NHL d-men.

Watching him has been great amusement. He's always too far from the puck on the wall but instead of skating into the scrum he stops and then reaches out with his stick as far as he can, in which he realizes he's still too far away to accomplish anything so he ends up bending over and losing his balance. By that point the play is already 100 feet up ice or the puck is in the net.

Classic Staples. He tries so hard to put positive spin on everything the oilers do- I don't even think they direct him to any more like the Lowe days, I feel like he just believes it's his duty. That's why the messaging is all misaligned too, the poor sucker is just sitting there guessing at what could be ridiculous but slightly positive sounding reasons for nearly anything the organization does. If McDavid asked for a trade he would probably tweet about how it was all a brilliant plan by Holland to kick off rebuild 3.0 by auctioning off a depreciating asset.

Even Valimaki has had to adjust his game because of NHL speed.

He looked much better (quieter) against Vancouver, after trying to play the same game as he did in Finland in Winnipeg.

The leagues aren't comparable ... it's closer to AHL hockey.
