The first start was only 2 innings because of rain cancelling the rest of that game.

I fully expect him to go though the lineup once at most to chew up 2-3 innings.
Then Glasnow.
They will want his bat to be fresh, and of course available, which is why he is starting not relieving.

I honestly wouldn't pitch him at all. He's a very good pitcher, no doubt, but he's a top 10 hitter ever and I'd much rather have his full attention on that. Feels like a win for the Jays to have him on split duty.

Ohtani>Glasnow>Snell is a daunting task for sure. Have to hope Glasnow is a bit wild and that might be the window in the game to tack on some runs.

Maybe but Dodgers need quality innings. He’ll be doing double duty for probably only 1 of his own at bats.

Probably see Glasnow and Snell and maybe Kershaw (each of who can’t got more than 2 innings probably) as well and the Dodgers then hope they are through 6 or 7 and are counting on getting a good lead built up at that point before handing off to the pen.

Apologize for being drunk and arguing baseball hypotheticals last night.

Schneider will be on alert to do the same. Scherzer is rested but…? Then Beiber. Maybe Lauer.

You’d like to think the Jays would be to the 7th inning by this point.

Then Bassit, or Yesavage if they start to get desperate. Varland only because he’s seemingly got a clause in his contract to appear in every game.

Took some time reading the first few pages of the Jays season thread. It's remarkable to see how far this team has gone with that kind of start and that kind of vibe around the team and the season. If we had a way of communicating to those in the first 500-600 posts in that thread that the Jays would be hosting Game 7 of the World Series on November 1, I can't imagine many would turn that down. If they believed us at all.

I want the best outcome tonight, a Jays lopsided win. But no matter how it goes down, what a season. One for the ages.

Varland will set a record for appearances if he throws tonight

Should they move Barger up in the order? He feels like the 3rd or 4th biggest threat in the Jays lineup. Yeah the base running gaff was costly, but Varsho was 0/4 last night and Barger has been swinging a hot bat.

I was thinking the same. Varsho had a few great opportunities last night and didn’t deliver. On the other hand, keeping real threats throughout the lineup has worked most of the time.

Simply cannot waste a performance like this. Surprised the 8th inning to Vladdy wasn’t #1 given it seemed more high-leverage to a non-baseball watcher like me.

Hopefully the way the 8th and 9th innings last night will give some/many of the Jays that feeling that they’ve now been in the most pressured situation, so any similar situation tonight, “they’ve already been there”.

In the 8th bases loaded 2 outs. Varsho has to have even a fleeting thought that he has the World Series on his bat. Everyone on base would suddenly have that anticipation too.

9th, they get the rally going again. A lot in the dugout started to believe with 2nd and 3rd no out. Ernie has to have the thought cross his mind as well that he could be a legit World Series hero, especially with the pitching change that occurred and the extra time to think about it. And makes a terrible decision to swing at the first thing he sees. It is chess. They know he likes to swing at first pitches and he knows that they know that too.

Barger too amped up thinking about somehow scoring on a bloop and instead is doubled off to end the game.

So for as level headed as the Jays have been to wear down opponents through relentless small ball, I think the moment and stage caught up with a few guys there in the 8th and 9th. Hard to blame them of course. But not often would you get a second chance in such a high profile situation.
They do have that opportunity.
And having gone through that now, and the team collectively had those emotions, they’ll be better suited to deal with the same situation tonight if it presents itself.

May be a once in a career chance to play in playoffs, even less a WS, even less odds to have a WS elimination game within your direct control like Varsho, Clement and Barger had last night and even less of a chance to get a second chance to win the WS in the next game after not coming through the first time.

Any of those 3 should be locked and loaded and take full advantage of the fact that they get another incredibly rare opportunity for the chance to again be a difference maker. Most guys don’t get one chance at playing in a WS, those guys have a second chance to be the WS hero tonight.

Curious to see how they start Ohtani tonight. Scherzer got rocked in both at bats in Game 3, would be pretty wild to start the game with an IBB, but might be the smart play.

The two times the Jays won the World Series was on a Saturday night. So why not make it three.

I remember driving home from one of my brothers hockey games in 92 and having to listen to it on the radio. The game winning hit by Winfield and final out was about 30 minutes before we got home.

In 93 was at a friends house and we watched it on T.V. when Mitch Williams blew it.

Looking forward to seeing another win tonight.

Also keeps him on the base paths longer before he pitches. Heck throw 1-2 times over each batter to get him moving more. I get he's an elite athlete, but a few slides back might takes its toll eventually.

No kidding. Every team has pitched extreme inside on Springer to keep him on his toes. We should do the same to brush him back a few times and make it hard on him.

Swap with Varsho, hit in the 5 hole. Or Lukes and hit 2nd, he is rolling and the more at bats he gets the better. Varsho really struggled last night in some key at bats.

Will this be Sherzer's last game pitching? He hasn't announced his retirement, but will any team bring him back to start in 2026?

Given the way the bats are trending, here’s my stab at a game 7 lineup:

1. Springer DH
2. Barger RF
3. Guerrero 1B
4. Bichette 2B
5. Kirk C
6. Clement 3B
7. Varsho CF
8. Lukes LF
9. Gimenez SS

The script has been reversed from what I expected...the Jays have been the far better team and the Dodgers have been hanging around and sneaking out wins
