No chance. Still wants to try one more run to get Oilers a cup. The Oilers can't trade him anyhow, not only does he have a NMC but the blowback would be huge. They will spin it that they are working on negotiations all year and Connor is taking his time but nothing to see there, it will get done. Except it won't.

They are going to go with the sumo experiment and have the largest weight differential in NHL history between a tandem.

Dis, not going at your POV here, but do you think it'll be next season or in a few years? I find it hard to believe he won't resign for a few years there, then maybe join the Leafs.

Maybe we are keeping RA to play as our backup goalie.

I’d be losing faith in their management if I was him.

With the Kings signing a bunch of 1 year contracts I wonder what a kind of offer Ken Holland could make for Andersson as a rental.

Losing faith in Oilers management is a two way mirror. He and Draisaitl signed huge ass contracts contributing to their cap nightmare. Don't get me wrong, they're worth every penny, but it forces to fill out the team with shills for pennies on the dollar. Going to Toronto would be a better situation but he'd also put them in a rough situation too.

They have been full value for those contracts and McDavid could have walked himself to UFA 2 seasons ago already if he had really squeezed the Oilers.
If not for COVID and the stagnant cap the Oilers likely would have had a lot more room to build around them, so that was a good consequence of the flat cap.

Shout out to sureloss for the effort today (and the rest of the year but moreso today). There's a load going on.

That is the only wrinkle here. I didn't ever think that a 2 year deal was even a possibility given how players have always signed long term. I know 100% he wants to be in Toronto and I think if Edmonton wins the Cup I could confidently say this is his last year in Edmonton. They came close two years in a row, he could theoretically sign 2 years or even 1 year if they don't win it this upcoming season. There is no chance he goes longer then 2 years though imo. I still think he goes after this upcoming season.
