No draft should be judged until 5 years after it happened.

Only a fool is that confident about their predictions, and thinks they're better at it than everyone else.

Chicago drafted 2nd and 3rd in back to back drafts and neither of those guys will be a top 5 player in their respective drafts.
According to you, they won't be.

According to the experts, they will be.

Neither was a reach.

This, especially for defenseman.

It would not be shocking if Parekh struggled out of the gate, especially defensively.

He'll be playing against men for the first time. It's expected he'll need time to adjust, so I hope no one is expecting Bobby Orr out of the gate.

Barkov didn't start being Barkov until year 3.

Cale Makar played 2 years in college after getting drafted, and he's considered a guy who had a quick impact.

Levshunov went from being drafted to playing in the AHL as a 19 year old, and then the NHL, and acquitted himself quite well. Strange you'd be certain he doesn't have the goods when he has a number of years to establish that. Especially since he's been playing against guys who are years older than him.

It's not like you have an all word track record.

the school that loses the Gavin Mckenna sweepstake might have a pretty good consolation prize. Flyers draft pick Porter Martone going to Penn State would make sense. He could join his Brampton teammate, Luke Misa

Imagine if both go. Mckenna Misa Martone could be a line

There was some speculation online that the Flyers might sign Martone to an entry level deal.

A part of scouting a player is evaluating risk- not only the risk of if a given prospect will make it to the show, but the risk of of a prospective draftee not reaching their projection. That's one reason why Levshunov was taken early over Parekh- because he already showed well against men in the NCAA with a high-level two-way game, combined with the physical attributes (size, strength, skating) that better allow for success. There were some who thought Parekh might have difficulty translating his high-octane offense to the next level, which at the time, would mean a bust- based on his deficient size and defensive game.

To FlamesDraftPrognosticator, it's not always just about evaluating talent- if that's all it was about, then scouting would be easy.
