Montoyo was a symptom of the problems at the top of the organization. The team came into this season with the exact same problems it finished with last season. Like, Matt Chapman is an amazing defensive 3rd basemen, and I love having him. But would Espinal really have been that big of an issue there? Could the package sent out for him not have got us something for the bull pen? A place that this team has, had and will continue to have major issues with going forward?
This team missed the play-offs based off bone-headed managerial mistakes but they saw fit to bring that very same manager back because ??? ? Even this season we're seeing the same ####, managerial calls (whether by Montoyo himself or by his coaches) taking runs off the board for this team or putting them on the board for the other team.
The team has nothing in the way of a consistent left handed threat in their line-up and the bench is still relying on players like Zimmerman, who cannot hit at the major league level at all on a regular basis. Montoyo sucked. He sucked real bad. But him getting turfed will only amount to a few more wins over the course of the season. This team's biggest flaw is over-all roster construction.

Just watch the Jays somehow go 1-3 because they don't have scouting reports on the AAA/AA players.
This should be a sweep but if not 3-1 over that series.

It's more of a disadvantage.
Just imagine how many guys they can't sign or trade for now because of this.

Very promising game by the Jays. Wheeler is a stud. And the Jays are having great AB's against him.
Please be a sign of things to come.

Stripling has to be low key MVP of this team. The way he has transitioned into the rotation and given them a quality start every 5 days has been phenomenal.

That was fun again. Hitting with power. Hitting with RISP. Looking like the team we know they could be.

Good. Maybe a month too late but we will see. My thoughts on Montoya are above. His two year contract was never going to see it to the end but they would've had or issues dumping him after last year.
Manager just needs to bring in Luke, Uncle Jessie and maybe Daisy in to change the atmosphere.

Baltimore is an inning away from winning their 10th in a row and that will make every team in the AL east be over .500

God bless Stripling. He is quietly having a great year, and it is scary to think where the Jays would be without him.
As for Montoyo, great human being, but in way over his head as the manager of a contending team. He managed the pitching staff atrociously, had the team unprepared to compete against the good divisional rivals, and was far too passive as a bench boss. This is a year overdue, but better late than never.
I am now much more optimistic about the season. Great to get the W tonight and get a bit of a winning streak started. The team seemed to respond to Schneider's more active tactics.

Finally looking like a more sound analytical order. Vladdy has to hit 2nd but I'd prefer Kirk in the #4 spot since it gets more high leverage ABs than the #3 hole.
