I'm just here to shoot the #### and crap on Edmonton.

I don't know why some posters read so much into nothing-burger posts and devolve these threads into something else, but that's all them.

Best policy is to just let them say their spiel and not dignify anything that isn't fun or well-meaning chatter with a response.

Imagine if your partner saw you do that, though.

She’d think of you as a gelatin fawn.

Pissy should get 1 game for that elbow on Barkov.

At least. That is exactly the type of hit that the league wants to take out of this game. At least that's what they say. Might depend on who throws it.

He won’t because that eliminates half the offensive threat

I don’t know what a distinct kicking motion is (apparently), so I’ll withhold judgement of a targeted headshot to the opposition’s best player while leaving one’s feet after a charge.

According to the NHL he might just get first star or something.

Much like kicking, they'll say it's not an elbow because the elbow was directed at the head, not swung towards it.

DOPS analysis: Well, it's pretty clear to us that Leon tripped on a rut in the ice, causing him to leap forward off both his feet. It's unfortunate that Barkov's head happened to get in the way of poor Leon's elbow, but that's just a hockey play, so...we're going to suspend Barkov for 6 games.

I was wearing my flames cap headed to my son's lacrosse game last night while the cats/grease game was on. A random saw my hat and said 'you'll be happy to know the panthers just scored to make it 2-1'. That guy gets it...

Solidarity against the no-goods fans in the city is important. Waaayyy too much oilers gear being worn on the fine streets of Calgary these days...

Cochrane is like a suburb of Edmonton right now. They can go ahead and move back...and take their house and cars with them.

As bad as the Oilers were for a decade, they were never underdogs.

They are without a doubt the most popular team in western Canada.

Before McDavid it was "building something special"

After McDavid it was "not a matter of if but when and how many"

And after cracking the post-season they were declared cup favorites by a significant number of pundits every year

It's a broken record no matter where they've been at. It's funny when they pick and choose when to claim to be underdogs - usually as soon as things look to be going sideways. Part of the excuse play book they've diligently developed over the years.

I may be wrong, but I think the "not a matter of if but when and how many" quote came earlier than McDavid. Perhaps after Yakapov was drafted.

In 2015, after McDavid was drafted, McLean did promise a cup for the Oilers within two year, or at the latest 4.

Watched game 1 with the family out at the lake, everyone not sober. Someone called the captain Boner Chong-Cravin' and I can't decide if it's hilarious or just homophobic.

"not a question of if, but how many?" was Glenn Healy, and yes, it was after drafting Hall, RNH and Yakupov - before McDavid
