From yesterday. The "report" was a radio dude out east who said he heard Johnny signed 9.5 x 8. Since been deleted. Oddly enough, anyone who reports 9.5 x 8 quickly recants.
I wouldn't call this actual news, but it was the best I could do.

There won't be any actual news until either Gaudreau has re-signed, or signed with another team. Both sides appear to be working on a mutual understanding, and are keeping things very private.

I still think johnny signs an 8 year deal with Calgary.
But I'm not sure what will be worse if he doesn't.
Him being gone or listing to BT talk about the process going forward.

I’d love to see an update on how long it takes to pay off the lost revenue
If it takes 2 more seasons if the Flames can get Tkachuk and Gaudreau to resign for reasonable money and make moves to lock up guys like Mangiapane we could be set up better than most teams
I wouldn’t be surprised if the cap had 1 off season of a 10% to 15% jump. Just not sure if that’s 2 or 3 years from now

Same with Anders Lee (as I said in that post). The list is UFA eligible players who sign for 7-8 years AFTER their final TDL. Which applies to Lee and Duchene, though we can only speculate about the reasons. Since the GMs involved are Poile and Lou, I suspect they simply held firm on their offers (which may/may not have included an 8 year option) and kept them on the table until say 6pm on July 1...both guys checked the market and didn't get their socks knocked off. Hard to imagine that scenario plays out with Johnny, though.
It's more than a little concerning if you dig into the big guys who stayed;
Stamkos - TBL was coming off G7ECF and G6 SCF in the 2 previous years, and the Florida tax advantage (which is generally overblown, but it's not nothing).
Landeskog - COL clearly on the cusp of breaking through. The expansion draft may have also created a bit of uncertainty and delayed negotiations a bit (losing Donskoi and his 3.9 AAV probably made it more possible to keep him than if they lost a cheaper D or something). Makar, MacKinnon, and Rantanen had clearly surpassed him in importance to the team and he probably took a pretty big discount to stay. The Kuemper trader happened the next day, so it seems COL had a lot of moving parts.
There aren't really any similarities with Johnny's situation...it could still happen, but this seems much closer to the NYI and CBJ situations where the teams tried hard to keep the players...

SB's are still subject to escrow. I'm 99% sure buyout payments are subject to escrow, too. The only thing that isn't is AHL salary.
I think SB's may help you exploit jurisdictional tax benefits a little more, and you can get more ROI by getting more money in the market sooner.

They negotiated that. What’s going to happen is 3 seasons of $1M increase and then a big, big jump in 24/25 (I think?)
It’s actually not a bad time to lock players into a big deals, because they’ll begin to look like brilliant value in the very near future.

This claim of record revenue seems hard to believe, the Canadian teams did not have full crowds until what mid January. Now many thier crowds were really strong on the back half so that makes up for some of that.
I don’t recal what American teams were doing in the early going.
Of course on the other hand, why would bet an exaggerate.
