Can't believe DEN loses.
SEA's two first round draft picks took a nice jump...with a putrid loss to a 1-12 team at home and Denver losing to Oakland...all of us Seahawk fans have to look forward this next 37 weeks until kickoff 2010.

God that sucked. What's that? The red zone? Nah, we don't need TD's. Just let Prater kick it all day long. Just flat worked on both sides of the ball, neither line did jack for the Broncos.

I'm getting a little sick of the one back set...they seem to want to run out of that all the time.
This team is terrible on third down on both sides of the ball.

Many will try to blame the Vikings loss on Favre, but he was the least of their troubles tonight. Lots of passengers in purple. People stopping before the play is over (C Griffin, B Berrian).
Childress has some work to do.

I'm pretty sure there will be many changes in Carolina this off season.
Peppers is a free agent, Coach Fox is likely gone, Delhomme hasn't been good in 2 years, etc.
They have a solid core of RB's, LB's, linemen, and recievers. QB will have to be addressed either in the draft or free agency.

Wow the AFC is now really interesting. That Steelers and Ravens game is absolutely huge now, especially if the Eagles knock off the Bronco's. All of a sudden teams like Tennessee, Houston could be back in the mix with 8-7 records. Even in the NFC, all of a sudden Dallas has a beacon of hope again that seemed lost after last week.

You've got some interesting games next week
Jags visit the pats.
Chargers visit the titans
Houston visits Miami
Baltimore visits Pittsburgh
Jets visit indy
Broncos visit Philly
Next week we could have 7 AFC teams at 8-7 all chasing 2 spots, either Miami or Houston will pretty much be officially elimated next week.
I can't imagine trying to decifier the playoff scenarios if that occurs.

Yeah that loss by Denver today suddenly made a lot of other games next week have possible playoff implications. Pretty much every team in the 8-6 to 7-7 range is going to be kicking themselves for at least one of the losses they had. I'm sort of hoping to see as many teams tied at 9-7 as possible and whatever weird tie breaker ends up happening.
Although for Tennessee to make it in their only hope really is that their 9-7 record beats out a lot of 8-8 teams as all their losses are in the AFC and a 2-4 Division record kills them in the tie breaker.

Yeah Tennessee is in tough. Houston is the team that is screwed the most. They are currently last in the tiebreakers based on all the 7-7 teams:
7. Jacksonville 7-7
8. Miami 7-7
9. NY Jets 7-7
10. Pittsburgh 7-7
11. Tennessee 7-7
12. Houston 7-7
AFC non-Playoff tiebreakers - Miami finishes ahead of N.Y. Jets in division based on head to head (2-0).
- Jacksonville finishes ahead of Tennessee and Houston in division based on head to head (3-1 to Titans' 2-2 and Texans' 1-3).
- Tennessee finishes ahead of Houston based on divisional record (2-4 to Texans' 1-5).
- Jacksonville finishes ahead of Miami and Pittsburgh based on conference record (6-4 to the Dolphins' 5-5 and the Steelers' 4-6).
- Miami finishes ahead of Pittsburgh based on conference record (5-5 and the Steelers' 4-6).
- N.Y. Jets finish ahead of Tennessee based on head to head (1-0).
- N.Y. Jets finish ahead of Pittsburgh based on conference record (5-5 to the Steelers' 4-6).
- Pittsburgh finishes ahead of Tennessee based on head to head (1-0).

Nah, that can't be right. Houston should only have 6 losses against the AFC while all of Tennesse's losses are in conference. Both teams have a 2-4 Division records, and I think Tennessee has a 4-7 Conference Record, whereas Houston is 5-7....wait Houston was only 1-5 inside their Division, I stand corrected. I thought they beat Jacksonville and Tennessee. Forgot that the Jaguars swept them.

I knew the tie breakers...just forgot off the top of my head that Houston lost twice to Jacksonville. Which still gives the Jags a faint glimmer of hope as they still hold a lot of head to head tie breakers in a multi team scenario.

Looking at the NFC, it's pretty much down to 3 teams fighting for 2 playoff spots. The Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, and Packers. I believe with the Cowboys win on Saturday that pretty much finished off Atlanta since they lost head to head against the Giants and Dallas and would have an inferior Confernce record in a multi team tie breaker with Green Bay.
The Packers only hope is as a Wild Card. If they win at least one more game at worst they end up in a tie breaker with the Giants where the Conference records are even the division records are even, and than it comes down to winning percentage in games against common opponents. Which this year is Dallas, Arizona, and Minnesota. Since the Giants played 2 games against Dallas and Green Bay played 2 against Minnesota I think that Giants sweep of Dallas and Minnesota losing twice to Green Bay gives the Giants the edge. So they either need to win out or hope for a Giants loss.
The Giants can't win the NFC East since the Eagles have 10 wins there is no way the Giants can win the Division over them. If they did win out and get to 10-6 they would get tie breakers against a 10-6 Dallas team, and I think against a 10-6 Green Bay team given the odd scenario above.
Dallas ironically still has control of whether they can win the NFC East or not, but would miss the playoffs if they ended up in a 3 way 10-6 tie breaker with Green Bay and the Giants due to being 0-3 head to head with those teams.
Philly is in the playoffs but they could still be anywhere from the 2 seed to the 6 seed. If they were to lose out and finish 10-6, the Packers can get to 11-5 and jump ahead of them. If they win out and Minnesota loses one more game the Eagles hold the tie breaker against the Vikings. If Dallas wins next week and beats the Eagles in the final weekend than they could end up with the 5th seed and an 11-5 record.
Even with the seedings Minnesota could still finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th. The Eagles could be 2 to 6, the Cardinals could still finish 2nd, 3rd, or 4th.
I look at all 7 of these teams, and I think that New York is the likely team out but who knows. If the final 6 is Dallas, Green Bay, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Arizona, and New Orleans, the playoffs could be a free for all. All those teams can score and they all have playmakers on defence. On any day any of them can beat the other team. It could be wild.

I was really expecting a Dallas loss versus New Orleans. Was hoping for more of a cushion for the Eagles. Sucks -- now it's shaping up so that the season ender between Dallas and Philly will be for the NFC East title.

At any rate, Favre overruled him...so what does that say about how much control BC has over his club??
Just a boneheaded move.

Breaking News! Tackling Abolished In Kansas City!
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shu...urn=nfl,210019
Quote:
Todd Haley and the Kansas City Chiefs apparently decided that tackling just, y'know, kinda wasn't worth it
|
Quote:
More unexpected was the performance by fourth-year running back Jerome Harrison(notes). The former Washington State star had rushed 88 times for 301 yards all year before today, despite a very strong performance against the Bengals in Week 4 (29 carries, 121 yards). Still, who expected this? Against the Chiefs, Harrison ran 34 times for 286 yards and three touchdowns, adding in one catch for 12 yards for good measure. The performance puts him third all-time in single-game rushing yards behind Adrian Peterson and Jamal Lewis(notes). One also wonders what might have happened had Brady Quinn(notes) been able to throw for more than 66 yards -- Quinn almost outgained himself on the ground with 39 rushing yards.
