However, the AP is definitely not a center-right party so I just can't figure out why you are adamant that they could be a good option.

I believe the UCP kept income tax rates at the same as the NDP had them

I think lower income tax on it's own is a silly wish. You'll end up in cases where there is the illusion of lower taxes because they've dumped the costs to other levels of government, added user fees and pulled money from needed services.
You might as well stick with the UCP.

Before they completely imploded the Alberta Liberal party actually had some really strong election platforms, more fiscally responsible than the PC party. But the word Liberal is probably even more toxic in Alberta than NDP and they haven't been relevant since David Swann stepped down.

Stephen Punwasi (Co-Founder of Better Dwellings in Ontario, recently ran for Mayor) on Real Talk on Tuesday suggested that lower income taxes and much higher property taxes might be a good fit for Alberta (and Ontario too). People should be allowed to thrive and scale, but land is limited, so it should be prioritized for the people.
It was a simple argument, but I think if you increase property taxes (and Alberta already has really high property taxes) then something does have to give in other taxes. Let people focus on earning and building wealth without being stymied by the market.
Personally I think home ownership/stable renting is a basis for healthy and thriving citizens, so everything should be done to ensure everyone has a home they want and to remove barriers to get one.

Does Alberta have very high property taxes? I thought they (Calgary) were low when compared to other cities?
I honestly don’t know and I’m asking.

I wonder if that term dates us. My crew called them zoomers back in the day, too. Haven't heard it in a while, though.

We're definitely on the lower side. Some cities in BC have pretty low property taxes, Toronto is a bit lower too, everywhere else is much higher than Calgary

Edmonton is much higher than Calgary. But then, Edmonton was much higher for me than it currently is for Toronto. And my property is more expensive here. That said, you pay for two lump sum land transfer taxes if you live in the city of Toronto (which is nuts), so it probably evens out for the most part but if you spend 30 years in the GTA is overall is cheaper.
