A conservative estimate is that 20000 jobs were lost in the downtown area.
Shell had so many employees, they leased space in Calgary Place to hold employees, in addition to Shell Centre. They filled all the space in Calgary Place. They had employees working remotely as a result.
Now... everybody works in Shell Centre, and the space they lease in Calgary Place is empty.

I was in the lobby of Livingston last fall, that is a newer building. I was waiting to meet someone for about 15 minutes and there were 2 or 3 people who went through the lobby in the middle of the morning. That building is mostly empty, like many others.
