The way Gibbs can turn on the jets is nuts.

Give him the touchdown for uniqueness and to keep the game alive.

Insane there's going to be a 14 win wildcard team.

End of Purdy in SF? Not sure you could ask much more of him but you've always gotten the feeling he wasn't the guy Shanahan or the 49ers really wanted/want.

Darnold. Cousins.Who knows.

Doesn't make sense but not many thought Goff would be where he was after the Rams. He wasn't the type of QB McVey wanted, clearly, and Stafford was.

Purdy will definitely be the QB next year, he's not a FA or anything. Makes no sense to not at least play him next year for the cheapest starting QB contract in the league. Whether they extend him or not, we'll see .

Well I can tell you that Jake Moody certainly won't be on the Niners next year (or even next week?). Two missed FGs, a missed EP, a comically bad onside kick. He brought the laughs tonight.

Don’t think Minnesota lets Darnols go. Cousins would be a significant downgrade.

Hes the best option and cheapest option.

Last 4 games. 31, 48 ,17, 34 points given up by the Lions and they are 3-1. The 17 was against the Bears so that’s like 42 against a regular team.

I still don't know about Darnold in free agency. Seems to me he's found himself a fit and should probably stay with the Vikings. The teams that would be in the running for his services will not have the same amount of talent or coaching to insulate him and I would be cautious of handing him a lot of guaranteed money given his history. Even with this 14 win season he's still two games under .500 for his career so there's a high possibility he turns back into a pumpkin on a mediocre/bad team. Maybe he's the next Gino Smith but even at that's not an overly high bar. I think as with Cousins, a lot of average QB's can look very good in that Vikings offense so there's a lot of buyer beware here.

Have you seen what Aidan O'Connell has had to work with? He's almost .500 (7-9) over his career with one of the worst teams in the league and somehow he manages to play at a competent level despite being surrounded by poor coaching and very limited talent. Despite playing in a situation akin to Darnold's first few seasons, he's light years ahead of where Darnold was at this point in his career. To be clear I think he's a bottom 10 starter in this league but he's actually done really well for a pretty unheralded QB that had absolutely no hype around him.

Patrick Mahomes leads his team to 15 wins, and no pro Bowl. It's 100% the right choices as anyone of Burrow, Allen, or Jackson could be MVP and all of them have had epic seasons. Even Herbert has put up better numbers this year. Seems a bit odd to think that Mahomes is the 5thbest QB in the Conference. But it's been the case this year. Pretty massive imbalance of QB power in the AFC. Goff, Darnold, and Mayfield all had really good seasons. Jayden Daniels could be special. But I'll take the AFC guys.

I think it comes down to if McConnell thinks he can get the same or better production out of JJ on a cheaper contract. I think Darnold has played well enough that he's pretty much priced himself out of Minnesota.

It's also supposed to be a pretty weak draft class for QBs, and there are a bunch of QB-needy teams this year (NO, TEN, SEA, IND, LV, Jets, Giants, etc.).

The Vikings will absolutely tag Darnold, even if it's to trade him. Letting him walk for nothing would be malpractice from the front office. I still see the most likely scenario as Darnold and McCarthy are both on the roster next year. They have the cap space and it's a great hedge if Darnold regresses. And I just can't see the Vikings brass going to the players and saying "Wasn't last year great? Now for a totally unproven QB to step in!". Everything out there suggests that room loves Darnold too. And if Darnold is happy and takes the Baker-like discount the Vikings would surely sign up for that.

I think what we'll definitely see this offseason is teams targeting Zach Wilson. He's not gonna waltz in and start (worth remembering Darnold got a year of Shanahan tutelage before this year), but with the Jets stench now removed he might turn out to be a decent starter too. Colts make a lot of sense for him.

Teams are calling on JJ. Vikings can probably get a haul for him considering he might be the #1QB on the board this draft.

Since the 2026 draft is allegedly stacked at QB, signing Will as a tank commander feels like a prudent move for whoever misses this years QB carousel.
