Caught the Sutter and Warrener conversation this morning, on Rhett's last day. I haven't listened to the morning show much in the last couple of years, but that was a great segment, and it was great to hear Darryl chat as a friend, with just a touch of current hockey talk thrown in. Really well done.

Yeah the segment with Darryl was fantastic.
I'm going to miss Rhett a lot. He brought a lot to that show. I know the last few years have been a bit off, but the last few years have been a bit off for everything. Rhett at his best was a great comedic foil for Boomer and Pinder, but was able to shift gears and bring some really insightful thoughts on the hockey side as well. You aren't going to find a lot of guys that bring the balance of career experience and charm that he has.
Good luck with everything Retro. We'll miss you.

Losing Rhett is such a big loss. He seemed like the least phony fella on there. Radio definitely seems to be a dying medium.

Yeah there's times you didn't even know he was there. Bring back Commie or Khran please.

The problem with finding a former player to replace Warrener is not a lot of retired millionaires are interested in getting up a 5 am to do a job that pays peanuts.

He played a role in a show that had an intentionally silly demeanor. When he talked hockey it was clear he was knowledgeable, and I thought they always balanced nonsensical banter and sports chat well. I don't want "serious business" sports chat all the time and the morning show always seemed like a genuine group of friends goofing around talking sports and whatever else.

Felt Rhett was finally coming into his own.
Oh well. I'll get more podcasts and audiobooks listened to on the commute.

Taking a while to get to 5000

He was entertaining, when he felt like contributing. Too often it felt like he was disinterested or was dragged into the conversation. Seemed to be a sweet gig, so much time off, never had to really be there. I get why it would feel hard to care after a while though. Oh well, all the best to him.

The afternoons are for news/serious business. Always considered the mornings entertainment.

Coming into his own basement? He is a textbook definition of sporadic and erratic.
I also doubt we’ve seen the last of him.

I can hear dumbasses banter at any bar or any water cooler. They often sound like 14 year olds.
On sports radio, I want sports.

Literally the opposite of being a professional. He never took it serious, he’s lazy and disinterested when things don’t come easy to him.
He could be like Jeff O’Neil if he ever actually but in the required effort and treated it anything like a profession and not a joke.
Party on Rhett!

Hear some when Im going to work.
You know how they talk about teams chemistry as being important? Boomer and Pinder are trying way to hard and IMHO do not have chemistry. Some guests help as usual but the two of them are forcing it.

Sounds like they need another casual ex-nhler co-host to hang out in studio and chime in once in a blue moon.
Where oh where can they find one.

was anything ever said about where rhett was going or why he left?
anywyas, for what it is worth, i was a fan of rhett's casual and seemingly laid back approach.

When it came to hockey talk I'd honestly prefers Pinders take over Rhett's but Rhett still brought entertainment. I wish he would have told more stories because those were always great. I enjoyed goofy Rhett and the occasional insider insight he could bring being an ex player.
I honestly think Krahn would be the best replacement. He's hilarious but also gets serious when talking about hockey. He has the perfect mix for the morning show.

They need to find one that takes radio money to wake up at 5 Am everday.
