Yes, Duchene is better and faster than Eberle.

That's a good point-sometimes a player has to go somewhere that's a good fit for their style of play, and nobody on the AVs was any good the last few years. That being said, I would still stand by my statement.

Would that make sense for either team or both or neither?
May be too rich for some and perhaps underwhelming for others and that all depends on how Phillips translates his game to the bigs, if he can.
|
That doesn't contain any of what Sakic is reportedly asking for.
If Fox is supposed to be the top 3 defenseman then there's no highly touted prospect and no big time pick in your proposal. Phillips isn't a highly touted prospect and a 3rd rounder isn't a big time pick. Fox isn't guaranteed to be a top 3 defenseman either.
There's no match with the Flames. We don't need Duchene badly enough to pay the price Sakic is asking. Based on the criteria Friedman says we'd need to at least offer Valimaki, one of Gillies/Parsons/Jankowski/Dube/Andersson/Kylington and a 1st or 2nd. Don't see Treliving being interested in at that price.
The team that acquires Duchene is going to be one that is desperate for a skilled centreman. Flames have too many skilled centreman at the moment anyways. Total mismatch of needs.

I think you're selling him short.

I agree about josi, he's their best defenseman, captain and on a sweet contract. I know it's not always as simple as this but if Larsson = Hall, then Duchene =/ top 3, top prospect and top pick.
Sakic is way off,

Statistics don’t really support that claim. Duchene is one of the most frustrating players in the league. He has rushes where he looks all world, then disappears the rest of the shift. He can’t even find consistency in a shift or a period.

Sakic got a D- on the O'Reilly trade, so he is trying to make up for it by knocking this one out of the park. He should have taken the Hamonic deal from NYI. Duchene who will be FA in 20 months can be worth more than either a 3-4 dman and a 1st round pick, or a #2 dman straight up. And i wouldnt trade either of those for Duchene.

Unless BT gets the sense he won't be able to get Fox signed there is no way he should be dealt for a player like Duchene.

I watch a lot of hockey around the league, and I disagree. It's okay.

Absolutely, everyone sees things their own way. For me if I can add any D man in the entire NHL not named Erik Karlsson it is Roman Josi.

A lot of lists have him right around five, so it's not outlandish. There's no list I've seen that has him lower than 7th.

I will take Josi over those other guys (except Karlsson) because he is a much better two way D man. Doughty and Hedman are close, Burns and Keith are not. If he was on a more offensive team Josi would be talked about the same way Nik Lidstrom was, he is that good.

Josi is inarguably a top pairing Dman on a cheap 3 year deal.
He's gotta be one of the last people Nashville would trade, and if they were trading him in a deal for Duchene, it would be Colorodo adding.
Anyways, its a moot point. Contenders arent making a flip like this for 2 year rental fr Duchene. The defensemen is equally, if not more important.
At some point Sakic needs to realize he either needs to make a sacrifice in the quality of talent he gets back, or the readiness of the high end talent he does get. Its the only thing that is going to make sense for the other side. This is why no trade has come close to getting done, because it doesnt appear Sakic has any interest in making a deal that is actually mutually beneficial.

The team just made Josi their captain. He isn't getting traded. Neither are Subban or Ellis.
Some people are so out of touch.
Based on Sakic's ask, he would want:
1) One of Hamilton or Brodie or Hamonic
2) Top prospect like Adam Fox
3) 1st round pick.
Include Sakic in the list of people that are out of touch.

Burns, the reigning Norris Trophy winner isn't as good as Josi? I'm guessing there's a large group of people who are much more qualified to assess these players disagree with you on that.
I do put Josi above Keith at this point in Keith's career due to age.
Josi entering his prime and Keith entering his twilight.
It may be homerism, but I do think Gio is up there with these guys. His compete is second to none, his ability to transition from physical play in his own end while remaining positionally responsible, to his offensive skill set to help drive the play is top 5 in the league. But that's my opinion.

There is no wonder he hasn’t moved him yet. Brodie or Hamilton are worth more than a Duchene straight up
