No...that is not happening. And definitely not worth it. Rasmus is way to valuable to trade to van for Garland.

I do agree. Just bored. I’d personally rather target Konecny anyhow.

I like Garland, but I would hate to give van any value tbh. I am more on the lets not trade with them unless it's a clear rip off.
But Benning is gone so it's not likely

We are still trying to win, Ras is to important to move, imo, unlesss we know that pick is top 10.
Kylington is the D, that I could see moved for a forward.

Then you’re adding picks. Nobody is giving a good forward for Kylington.

I can see that... Mangiapane to top line, Rodrigues and Coleman flank Backland.

I do think the Flames are going to move a defencemen - or two.
Hanifin - Andersson
Weegar - Tanev
Kylington - Zadorov
Mackey - Valimaki
Meloche
Stone is not on this list, but until I see Stone sign somewhere else, I will just anticipate him re-signing in Calgary as he wants to be here, and Sutter seems to like him too.
That looks like great depth - until you realize that both Mackey and Valimaki are waiver required players this year (so are Meloche, Poolman, and some others but I doubt any of those would get claimed).

Question is, what teams are short on D? Who would be interested in Valimaki or Mackey? Or Kylington? If the Flames don't re-sign Stone and decide to carry 8 D, then I guess Meloche would MAYBE get picked (if a team is looking for toughness - Meloche is tough, and seems to be trending into an NHL regular - 50 NHL games last season).

I wonder if the Flames look to flip Valimaki for a forward in the same age range with similar pedigree who also hasn't really found an NHL foothold yet?
Like Cody Glass, Kristian Vesalainen or Morgan Frost for example.

I could see Valimaki going with Lucic as a cap dump if the Flames need to make room. Only $1M in salary for Lucic, so he might be attractive to the Arizona's of the world, and the Flames could keep future picks.

It wouldn't be Arizona - Lucic has a NMC, and I bet he would rather retire than go there.
I would argue that Lucic has positive value for a cash-strapped team (Anaheim comes to mind). Maybe he wants to go there, but Lucic controls his future, and with less than 1 million bucks in actual cash to be paid out, quite the 'bargain' in the NHL for actual dollars vs cap hit.
